2980RL Kitchen Slide

Hello All,
My wife & I are looking to buy a new 2980RL. We really love the floorplan and size, will tow with a 2004 Chev crew cab Duramax/Allison 4X4.
Question: What kind of experiences has anyone had with the carpeted front edge of the kitchen slide-out on the 2980? My wife's concern is about kicking it with her foot while using the range, and the fact that you've got a carpeted area directly below the range where food can drop, etc.

We would appreciate any experiences.

Thanks,

Bill & Shari Hill
