Air Bags Filling

Finally had the air bags I bought almost a year ago installed. My question is do you fill them to your desired PSI before or after the trailer is hooked up?

I fill ours before hooking up. Others do it after hooking up. In our case I know how many pounds are required for proper ride before hooking up.

Greg, I usally fill before loading up, I don't think it matters to much though. I just like to get everything done with the TV and Monty before hooking up.

Keep mine at 5-10# when empty. I measure bumper height when unloaded/level, then hook up and fill the bags til she's back level. Unloaded w/30# usually equals 55# loaded and level.

I fill mine after I hook up so the truck is at it's normal height. I take a bumper measurement before hook up and then fill the bags to that measurement.

Why not: Hitch your Montana, Then fill the bags until the Montana IS Level. A level trailer means the trailer weight is being distributed evenly on the axles?

I agree with Phil, I usually air mine up after hooking up. Then level it.

I run 10# empty and fill up to 30# before hooking up. This results in about 55# when hooked up which is level on level ground. I suppose it really doesn't really matter which way you go.

I believe that the maximum pressure the airbags can withstand is 100 psi. I'd be careful when airing up the airbags to make the rig level.

I air up after loading. I keep the air bags at 10# psi when unloaded and around 60# loaded.

Never had to put in more that 60 psi to level my rig, when I had the 2500 Chevy.

I run right at 5 psi empty and 55 hooked up. I fill after the Montana is on.
