I saw diesel at a Love's in Broken Bow, Ok. yesterday for $4.49. As bad I would have like to have bought some for that price, it would not run very well in the Expedition.

Diesel in Seward is now $5.47. It should increase Monday by another $0.11. All we have to do is drive to Anchorage and save $0.60 per gallon. Guess where we buy diesel? It ain't here!

In our closest town Diesel is $4.95. My John Deere Tractor runs on Diesel as does our Silverado. So we plan our trip to the nearest Wally World which is about 45 minutes away, were Diesel is $4.59 with the Wally World discount card of $.03. I also take two 5 gal Diesel cans and refil them also. We live in a very small Tennessee County and our Diesel stations are just taking advantage of their residents.

The prices around NW Lower MI are still steady on diesel ($4.75-4.89) but gas prices are falling slightly from $4.18 to around $4.10.

Today in Tok, Alaska we paid $5.129 for diesel and thought I was getting a bargain after being in Canada for a month.

Still working on the last tank full of diesel from 3 weeks ago. Prices seem to be holding at 467.9-479.9. We were lucky enough to fill up my wife's van, with regular, at Wal-Mart for 393.9

With a 4 cent per liter discount I paid $6.15 per gallon today for diesel here in Dawson City. I am looking forward to getting to Alaska and buying some of that "cheap" Alaskan diesel.

Prices spied yesterday

diesel: $4.75

gas: $4.04

Those are the only ones I remember, there were varying prices at different stations, but, of course.

ON EDIT, for June 25, prices today:

diesel $4.79

gas $4.07

both of those were the highest prices I saw, so, low is 1 cent cheaper for gas 87 octane and 3 cents less for diesel.

Here in Portland, Oregon, there is a place just outside of town in a community called Linnton on highway 30. I stopped to fill up with diesel because I've noticed the station was consistantly lower than anyone else around. Monday's price was $4.57, while everyone else around was running $4.69 to $4.95. I asked the lady attendant how they did that. She explained that while it was a "brand name" station, it was privately owned, therefore they did not have to adhere to corporate pricing structure. She was really nice too, asked how my day was going, what else she could do, etc. This was a throwback to the old days, when service really meant service. I told her how much I enjoyed chatting with her, and said I'd be back. She said she'd let the owner know, he likes to hear positive comments from customers. There may still be a few of the "old type" stations out there, and I think I found one.

Yesterday I went to the Shell station in Cody to use there car wash. When I pulled in Diesel was selling for $4.69. It took about 20 minutes to wash truck and when I pulled back around diesel had dropped to $4.64 too bad I only needed about 10 gals, but I filled up anyway.

Yesterday we let EXXON of the hook for the oil spill. That will help the profits. Gas is holding steady here in Cedar Rapids as well as diesel. HATE to say anything as they will get us again.

Slightly off topic so I apologize up front -- regarding cooking bio-diesel: About a year - year 1/2 ago, the show 'Trucks' had an episode about making your own diesel. Had a neat aparatus to use old cooking oil from restaurants -- well, a good friend and I checked a bunch of fast food places (M'Ds, Wendy, KFC, etc); also a couple of restaurants. No one was willing to 'give' us their old oil -- all had contracts with a service to pick up their used oil. I then contacted one of these services and they wanted almost $2.00 a gallon to buy from them. We didn't pursue it further at that point.

Guess my point for this is just to bring up the point that finding 'used cooking oil' may be more difficult than the shows make one believe. Yes, the business may like to give it to you but they legally can't if they have entered a contract with another company for it.

Now all that said -- if you do find a source -- and your schedule allows -- go for it -- everything I've read says the resulting fuel is cleaner, provided more lubrication to the injector pump and injectors, -- other than clouding and gel point being a bit higher, there doesn't seem to be a negative to bio-diesel, (heck, they claim you can even make your own soap from the gel you have left after making your own bio-diesel!!).

On-Topic: Diesel here is still 4.95 gallon at Phillips, 4.84 at Shell.
