We just hit 4.159 in town today, up from 3.89 a week ago. I'm too exicited to use our new rig to let this get in our way. I'm with Rich and Jolu!

If diesel prices hit $5 gal, then we will have to do some serious reevaluation if we can afford to keep going south for winter. It is not only the cost of fuel, but groceries go up, propane goes up not to mention the monthly cost of health ins. Will make that decision in June after wife's hip surgery. We are not ready to give up stick home. It is paid for and nice to come home to for the summer. And yet we really don't want to give up our Winter getaway. Snow is not fun anymore! Decisions, Decisions!

We budgeted fuel at 4.03 when we began this winter trip. We are under budget on fuel thus far. It hit 3.769 here today We have $ in our travel account to pay for fuel up to 4.03 per gallon. When it goes over that we will have to take the difference from some other place.Maybe it will get real warm and the furnace will not run. Maybe we can not use the A/C or the microwave or not heat the hot water tank. We can cut back on food. If you spend more money that you have in the budget..were do you get the difference???
On edit.. Helen's one week Disney paycheck hit the bank..it equates to 37 Gallons of Diesel fuel at todays prices. That would put us 370 miles or so up the road..another 730 miles worth of Disney paychecks and we are home free. She needs to work more hours..

Just when I thought we had the highest diesel prices in the nation, I am surprised to find we don't, though at about $3.89 it is no bargain. We talked about it and decided even if we just take our Montana to the coast for a few weeks or to one of the mountain lakes in the summer for a few weeks, it makes a great vacation home. If we are able to travel across the country at least once, we will be happy. We have no intention of selling our stick home.

Another possibility is to find a place you really like and park your rig there for the season.

We havent lived in a stick home since oct 1998. We really like the fulltime rv lifestyle. Even though I dont care for the high fuel prices (because I know its a game for the oil companies) its probably not as hard on me as it would be if I still owned a stick house to keep up. But last oct we did buy a half acre lot with 2 full rv hookups, 200 amp power, city water, a septic tank for a 2 bath house, even has a 12ft x 16 ft little cabin with bedroom, full bath! This is out in the country of middle tennessee. So at least we can go here and just stay put for as long as we want, and still live in our rv without the high taxes and up keep of a stick house. BTW taxes here only $28.00 yr.!!

Sounds to me that the positive, can-do attitudes are starting to rise to the top!! Here's believing that we will all have great and glorious times camping this year (even if they are abbreviated, lengthened, or altered somewhat due to the ever increasing lack of concern by our duly elected politicians)!!!

I used to love boating, but nobody in my family really care about it and we went to rving and camping and everybody in my family loves it.
All I wanted to do is to just go and see this great and beautiful country. Well I have to change my plans for now and wait for better days, but I won't give this for now. What I like the most about Rving is the open roads, big country and the greatest people we ca meet at every stop we make.
Sorry, but I had to vent it.

It was on the news tonight. $4.00 a gallon by the end of May. Gas hit $3.16 a gallon here in OK City today. Diesel is sitting right at $3.55 a gallon. Its time for a second job just for fuel.

Just came off the road in Northern AL on our way back to KY. Left RGV on Feb 28th and fueled for $3.35 a gallon. Paid $3.79 today (a standard price all the way from Gulf Shores). But gas is only $3.08 a gl. Figure that???????
