I think they only have 1 railway to Pikes Peak. http://cograilway.com/
When we were there we drove up to the top but there was only one train up and another going down.

Cog, great experience. Got to eat one of their famous greasy donuts at the top.

I drove my 2004 dodge 2500 diesel up last August, it's a nice drive. They charged $10 per person, (didn't charge for our 18 month old grand daughter). They do check your brake temp about a 1/3 of the way down, but with my exhaust brake and using lower gears we didn't have a problem. We were able to stop at a few places on the way up and explore, so you might consider this option.

We did take the train ride.. a great ride.when we got to the summit the clouds rolled in with thunder and lightning. went inside the building and we told not to go outside because of the lighting 20 minutes later back on the train... drove the truck to the summit...nice and clear.. great view.. they did change $24.00 to drive up.they did not do a brake check

Even in the summer it is very cold up top. Shorts and no coat were not the appropriate clothing...

We drove up to the top in the RAM the only problem I had was breathing the air was very thin and I didn't do much walking around. we did watch the train do the pull with passengers the ride looks like it went through some beautiful landscapes.

We drove up once years ago I do not remember that it cost anything. We did not try it in the Dulley a couple of years ago took the train and it was a great ride .For whatever reason the altitude did not bother myself or the wife. We had the experience of looking down on a thunder storm.

We live about 10 miles from Pikes Peak. I will echo others comments about being cautious with the altitude at the summit. It is a beautiful view from the top and the Cog Railway is the way to see it (IMO). We see the peak every morning out our kitchen window.
