A little up and down on the hitch

...Makes a world of difference in the way the whole rig feels. I lowered my hitch down one hole before our trip to Yellowstone, because the trailer looked a little high in the nose (maybe just an illusion). The truck felt like we had just loaded a ship on the back, really heavy. On the way home, since we weren't in a hurry, I pulled out, unhooked Monty, and raised the hitch back up one hole. What a difference! I could feel the trailer, but it didn't feel as heavy, starting, stopping, and the ride in general just felt smoother. I don't know how much the weight increases on the rear axles by lowering the trailer, but I can tell you the feel changes dramatically.

Gramps, Ideally, with the trailer sitting on the truck in the towing mode, you should be near level with the trailer. This distributes the weight evenly over the trailer axles and tires and should give a better ride and increase longevity on the trailer tires. I know alot of folks who don't worry about a couple inches one way or the other and I don't either. This is what the folks at MorRyde told me.

I run a little high on the nose. My GMC with Air Lift bags @ 50# is level. Hate to lower the rear end to level the 3400.
