Bye Bye Black Hills

We leave The Black Hills in the morning for The Badlands. We did not know what to expect before we arrived in The Black Hills, but we were blown away by what we saw! The scenery, the wildlife, the history, the people, the scent of the Ponderosa Pines - WE LOVE IT ALL!!! We had seen on the forum where people said that they were here a week and didn't have time to see it all. We decided on a minimum of two weeks and we have seen all that we had set out to see and much more! We took a last spin through Custer State Park today to say Good Bye to our new-found friends the Bison, Burros, Pronghorns and a host of creatures and mountain vistas to gaze at. We ended the day with steaks at The Alpine Inn in Hill City. This entire journey has been one of new adventures, sights and seeing old friends and making new ones. We can not wait to see what our tomorrows will bring because our todays have all been so great.

Oh how I envy your recent journey. Ours was a trip pre-RV a few years back and only for a long weekend to the area. This is a "must do" when we start fulltiming. Don't you just love those Burros?

Yes, it is great country. We got to The Badlands today and took a spin through in the evening - This is another WOWser! Tomorrow, when the sun is shining bright, the colors and wildlife should be brilliant.

We only spent 11 nights in the Black Hills (at Hill City) a few years ago. That's one of the many places I want to go back to and spend more time.

We had seen on the forum that many had been to The Black Hills area for a week or so and did not get a chance to see everything that they wanted to see. We set a two week minimum and left room to add more if needed but saw what we wished to see and some more than once. We do look forward to returning to experience it all again, though. When we do, we will again give ourselves enough time so we do not have to rush.

W too enjoyed the Black Hills While there. We lived there for 9 years while I was on active duty with the arir Force. In the years we still didn't see it all, what with kids in school, school activites and vactions back to Ind. to see grandparents. We left there 22 years ago when I retired and have only had very short visits sense on our way to Great Falls, Mt. I know a whole lot has changed over the years and we need to spend some time there again. We still have friends there. When DW retirs in a couple of years we plan on extended trips out west as we love it so much. Better go before I realy get carried away.
