Another Las Vegas RV park closing
Yet another RV park in Las Vegas is closing. Boulder Lakes RV Resort. I heard it from a friend that has lived there for 5 yrs. Everyone is to be out by the end of July. I feel bad for the "long timers" there in the park, many are elderly and several old park models that look like they would fall apart if moved. Some have lived there 20 years or more. Too bad it was a nice park, we stayed there twice a year both times. Nice big sites and away from the noise of the LV nightlife. All we heard there were coyotes, quail, and dove!

I have a friend that has been in that park for 5 years and she says that they don't know where they will go either. It seems Las Vegas is pushing the RV'ers out.

I guess they are pushing the RV'ers out. They have been trying to sell this park for a while now, when we were there last summer, someone put a bid in to put condos up, when they had an engineer come out and look at the land it wouldn't support the weight of housing due to all the underground springs in the area. What's your friends name? (first name only) maybe I know her.

Not just Vegas. Florida is seeing the same thing over and over again. In the past 2 years I can count 5 CGs that have been replaced by condos and that's just in Pinellas and Pasco counties on the west coast. If you want a secure investment for your money but it into Florida real estate.
I personally would not buy a park model anywhere in the state of Florida unless I also owned the land it sits on. I have met dozens of folks that thought they were secure in their location. Than out of the blue they were given from 30 to 60 days to move their units and it always seems to happen during the late spring and summer months when they have already gone north for the summer. Many of them were unable to find a new location or the unit would not be suited to be moved. Hurricane regs require a lot more than just dragging the unit in a new location and setting it back up. What with the cost of moving the rig, permits and meeting the regs it just wasn't worth it. Quite often they would just hand the units title over to the new property owners and walk away.

Something ironic in the fact that they are closing parks, others are in disrepair (as reported here on other threads) and they are selling RV's like hot potatos. Where we gonna park them all? OHHHH, I know, along side the road where ever we run out of fuel cause we cannot afford to fill up?? (ooooo, Carol is being a snot! )
Ah MOC people are smart, we will figure a way around all this doom and gloom, eh???

It is unfortunate but that land is worth a small fortune. We lived there for 10 yrs and go visit my son and the grandkids at least once a year - last time we stayed at the base, time before that by AZ Charlies on Boulder. Here the old mobile home parks are converting to RV/Mobile home parks as the old trailer houses are getting so bad that they have to get rid of them and nothing permanent can go back into a single spot. I haven't heard of all the parks that have closed in Vegas - they are just forcing people to have to stay out away from the casinos. Has anyone stayed at the Sam's Town CG's?
Safe travels.

We have stayed at Sam's Town Casino RV Park several times. There are two parts of the park. The old one is on the north side of the casino and it is getting "a little long in the tooth". They are definitely not caring for it like the new one, south of the casino. It looks like they are just hanging on to it until they can use it for development. The new one is right next to the casino and has nice landscaping and amenities. Both parks use the office at the new park for administration. Would not stay in Sam's Town again unless we could get into the new park.

Things are different in different parts of the country. Many of the C.G's around here are converting over to all permanent sites as they can not afford to have empty sites during the week and even weekends. The EPA standards are causing some to shut down or sell the land to developers. Rv's are not selling like hot cakes in this part of the country.I note that the local Rv dealers are now open late on Sat and open on Sundays..never did that before. Attendance to Campouts in our local group is down 30% thus far..folks have better places to spend their dollars. Interesting side note the the State of the econpmy...Golf courses have reduced their rates this season.Cedar Point a Large Disney style amusement park has cut their rates this season. The Cleveland metro park system that has several fine Golf courses reported a 50% decrease in revenue for the 05 season and cut their rates for 06. The state of our Auto industry. The shut down of many manufacturing plants who are moving out of the country and the high energy cost are devastating to a large number of folks around here.
