Stabilize RV??

We are newbies and are in our 2nd week in our new 3402RL. We love it, however, we cannot get the movement out, meaning anytime we walk..we wiggle. We have the auto. 6 point level system. We purchased a tripod for the hitch (doesn't work). Talked with dealer and he recommended manually moving jacks to try and stabilize. Well hopefully I've come to the people that can really help.

Thank You,

Tom - Shannon

Call Lippert on Tuesday. Others here may know much more about this than I (mine has worked perfect since day one), but it sounds like the rig still has it's weight on the springs and tires even though the pistons are out. There is probably an adjustment to have it level and a little higher off the ground.

You said you are "newbies" have you experienced a 5th wheel without the leveling/stabilizing system? It's night and day. Maybe your expectations are too high? Unit will never be completely movement free. We spent the first night in our 3400 yesterday. Wife said the levelers made a huge difference over our other fiver w/ the old style stabilizers and pin tripod particularly with my 250lbs walking around.

I am like several others have stated, 6 point leveling on my 3580RL Big Sky real solid from day one without having to make any changes. Most all the time the wheels are still on the ground but I have had wheels off the ground as much as 4 inches on a side a couple of times.

Our Level Up takes almost all the weight off the wheels, probably the only weight is the wheels and springs themselves. It's not movement free like a stick house, but compared to our previous Monty with electric landing gear and stabilizer the Level Up has a much more solid feeling.

We have the 4 point auto leveling system from Lippert on our new High Country. We are just about rock solid. Can feel a little movement when a large person (insert me here) comes up the entry steps. World of improvement over are last Monte with crank down rear jacks.

We do not have the auto level on ours, but find our unit very stable when set up.

Our 2013 3402RL is very stable when levelled. As davidaf stated, is it possible you're looking for "rock solid" when that can't ever be the case? Or there may be an actual problem. When I still worked at the GM dealership, if a customer concern seemed like it might be unrepairable, I always compared their vehicle with a like vehicle or even two from the lot. Take a drive to your dealer and compare your stability to another with 6 point levelling. That should cinch it for you.

I have found with our 6 point Lippert system that the Monty will be near rock solid if I put a board 2 x 10 x 12 under each foot instead of just letting them rest on dirt/concrete/blacktop.

Thank all of you for info. Been out of town so unable to reply until now. Will check back with dealer again as the movement is totally out of control. In the instructions there is a section "zero setting the control". Can anyone tell me what this is?

Thanks for all the help,

Tom-Shannon

Zero setting the control is how you set it for what level is to you. We found out early on with a free app we got and our Ipad that our rig isn't level from front to back and we had to choose where we wanted level to be. If you don't agree with the factory setting that's how you correct it.

Here is where we are at with our 3402RL RV sway/movement problem. We purchased from Pete's RV, Schererville, In. Per Pete's RV instructions, I took to RV dealer in southern Ind who while on the phone with Lippert ran Monty through every test possible. The dealers conclusion was they can do nothing to get the shaking out. They said the jacks are too small and give when Monty is raised, lowered, etc. I'm on my 3rd person at Pete's RV and he is going to talk with Keystone and see what can be done. We also have a popping sound and the RV shakes, Lippert is aware of this problem and has a fact sheet for dealers where taking 1 qt. of oil out of reservoir and adding 1 qt of a grade 15 oil (Torco REF Grade 15)will supposedly solve this problem. We are living fulltime in the RV and just starting out with our dream of workamping. All we want is our RV to be right. What a let down.

"They said the jacks are too small and give when Monty is raised, lowered, etc. ".... never heard of such a thing. They give..give where??? I can not imagine what is going on with your Montana. Perhaps you need to call Keystone customer service yourself. Did Lippert say the jacks are to small??? they are a Lippert system.. Something is very wrong here...You need to talk to Keystone yourself.

Always use chocks! Not only for safety, but to prevent movement. Chocks that go between the tires and brace one tire against the other work best. We always use them, even with our new Levelup. There is very little but some movement. Much better than our last Montana that did not have Levelup.

We do notice a little movement in the back of the trailer in the living room area. SInce our level-up was a add on we still have the rear stabilizers. We have started using them more often and have found that takes what little wiggle is there away.
