What's the longest thread?

Does anyone know what the longest thread in MOC history has been?

Lisa, you mean the longest post, or thread? The tailgate deal must hold the longest thread record.

You're right Ozz, Thanks.
The tailgate thread made me think of it.
If there is a longer one, it was before my time.

A couple years or so back we had a very very long thread. The subject was something like "Continue the story" Someone started the story something like this....
Once again Ole Ozz took the old chain saw to his rig again. This time he was going to remove a 6 foot square section from the nose of his Monty in order to install a............
At this point it was posted and the next reply would continue from that point but at no time would you actually finish the story. The next reply may have said....
...new Super Large Screen Plasma TV. He just made the first 6 foot cut when Sue rushed up and said "OZZ STOP" you........
This thread got a life of it's own and would have gone on forever when Admin locked it. It was so large that it was taking up a ridiculously large amount of band width.

Cool!
I'm surprised that the tailgate, or whatever it is, thread has gone on so long.

Glenn just gave us more ammunition to artificially extend it......Louvered tailgates with Ozz inspired modifications!!!! Double Cool!!

Jim,
Tailgates were a long time ago forgotten in that thread! At least our story and the horrible remote control furnace/AC stayed on topic. LOL
Happy trails...........................

Glenn, I think it was "the person below me..." or something close to that. I was thinking the same thing as you. We've had that thread twice and it was huge before it died out. About time to do it again, maybe?

I'm sure the remote thermostat thread was the longest serious technical discussion that stayed on topic. Not only that, there were several previous and subsequent threads on the same topic . I think the really long one ran to about 35 pages.

I don't mind people having fun with a thread like the Louvered Tailgate one, but since I don't really understand how charges for the Forum are levied by Forumco, I do have to wonder if all this traffic generates unnecessary cost for the angel(s) who underwrite that cost of this Forum for us.

I look at the long threads as silly and meaningless, off the course for a good helpful Forum like this one.
But that's just me.

Long threads to me seem like it's 'belly up to the bar' time...I really don't see many threads going more than a couple pages before they get so far out of wack you can't tell what they're talking about anymore.
The occasional fun thread is fine...just not my cup of Jo...I never did read the louvered tailgate thread.

I'm right there with you Oz and Ozzie. The threads like "Complete the story" were meant for continuation and the theme was "fun". The thread about the remote control thermostat helped a great number of people and all the information was great. We would never have made it without that thread. I had printed the post and we followed it to a "T". If we want to have fun, that is great, but it should be under a thread that means "fun". JMHO
Happy trails..............................
