Winter windows and Skirting or Not

It is getting close to the cold of winter again. We were here in Colorado last winter and it got to 16 below, we didnt have much problem with the cold, we did put that shrink wrap plastic on the windows that helped but didnt stay on it is all lose now. So we are considering puting plexaglss on the screen door as seen in another post, and makeing the same type for the other windows, so we won't have the plastic coming off we will be able to remove it in the heat as we want and what do you all think about skirting the underside?

Skirting should help, especially if it had some insulation behind it. Even if it doesn't it sure would help keep that cold wind out.

I am glad to hear you survived 16 below in Colorado. Yes installing skirting with some insulation should work wonders in the cold winter. Keep us posted. Happyrving....

Bob & Lee, did you use the 3M window coverings? We used that last winter and had very little trouble with it coming unstuck. Just a couple of little places which we then taped down. We took it off in Spring so we could open windows and will put more on this winter.

We don't use skirting because we leave the cold area right after Christmas. It's not as cold in the Kansas City area as you had in Colorado. We're thinking about maybe finding some cheap method of skirting this year. Cheap because we'll have to toss it when we leave the area. I thought about using hay bales but have heard that's just inviting mice and other crawly critters to come visit.

I'd be interested in your eventual solutions for both the windows and skirting if you wouldn't mind posting about them.
