Went through the same issues with my furnace on our maiden voyage. Because we were a "Brazilian" (just heard this expression in a joke) miles from a dealership I tackled it myself.

Removed the furnace, cleaned and readjusted the ignition electrode and re-did the Mickey Mouse factory wiring connections and it has worked well ever since.
