Maybe place an open a bag of charcoal or box of baking soda in the compartment and close it up; it will absorb the odor...

I'm with Rich, remove dead fish THEN use baking soda. Maybe a Bounce sheet or two?

Hi All,
There's a product out there called "Odorzout". Found out about it from "The Queen of Clean". Try a Google to find a place to buy it. Out here in AZ it can be bought at "Bashas" grocery stores. Works great.
Happy Camping

racer,
Is there in fact a dead fish located somewhere in the camper? I know several folks have joked about it but we don't know whether or not there is a fish.
I am assuming there is NOT a dead fish or some other organic cause of the odor somewhere in the coach. In which case the smell is probably coming from one of the holding tanks. Do they need to be dumped? Do you leave the valves open when you are hooked up? You should not leave the valves open. Or if you do leave the gray tank open you should close it a day or two before you dump your black tank. [The reason you should NOT leave the black tank drain valve open is because that will allow the fluid to drain off leaving only the solid stuff! This will eventually cause a problem simply dumping.] This will allow you to dump the black tank first. Then the galley tank and then finally the gray tank. By doing it this way you are running the "cleanest" dump water thru your system last. This will help clean out any left over residue from the black dump. Lastly close the black tank and fill it up with fresh water. I am assuming you have the black tank "rinse" feature. If not then fill up with a garden hose. Then dump the black tank again. Do this several times. If you have the "clear" connector on your sewer hose hookup. This will allow you to see when the tank is really clean.
It usually takes me about 3 or 4 times to get the black tank clean. Once I started doing this process my smelly problem went away.
Good luck.

Dead fish? Maybe it is something else. Hopefully not. It is possible that if you had the basement doors open and was away from it for a while, an animal crawled in there and hid whenever you come back. It is possible it died in there. I sure hope not. Good luck in finding the bad odor and getting rid of it.

Used coffee grounds, the ones after the water runs thru it, will get rid of bad smell. Think it was in one of the RV magazines, or maybe on RV today.
