Door closing problem

Since installing the Morryde lift assist on our stairs we are experiencing problems with the door hanging up at the bottom.
If we drop the rig and auto level the problem is minimal. When we stop and stay hooked is when we have a problem. The bottom of the door seems to catch on the threshold.
When I installed the lift assist I made sure that my rig was level.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like the steps are not down enough and the top plate is catching the bottom,of the door.

Sounds like you need to adjust the legs on bottom of stairs. There is either a pin through the step that you take out and adjust, or on the newer one there is a lever on back side of each leg to adjust the height.

When you deploy the stairs, you need to ensure they are down far enough that the screen door clears the top plate. If the screen door will not close easily then there is interference with the stairs and you need to collapse the legs further (shorter) so the top plate easily clears the doors. Hope this makes sense..

Yep what they said. Lower the legs until the door has clearance.

Thx for the suggestions. Lowering the stairs helps with one of the problems. I contacted Morryde about not being able to open or close the door with the stairs inside. The stops somewhere do not secure the stairs enough to prevent the door closing. They have a stop that latches which cure the problem.

The problem is, I watched a dealer slam my door to close and the problem was they did not have the step latch pulled to allow steps to go in another 1/2" and latch as per design.

When you stop overnight and stay hitched up, I was told by Affinity tech that you should still put down the landing gear to take the weight off the pin before putting the bedroom slide out. Apparently it relieves tension on the frame/wall.

My steps do not have a latch either, I wish they did.
What I do is close the door with my right hand just enough so that my left hand can fit inside and push the stairs inward, then slip my left hand out and push the door fully closed. This is especially a problem when on an unlevel surface where the rig leans slightly to the door side. The steps will not remain all the way inside on their own with me pushing them to get the door closed.

My 2018 model had the Morryde (version 1.0 ?) steps with lift assist struts and the adjustable legs with the pins that were somewhat of a pain. It did not have the locking mechanism as shown in the photo by Tony (post #11 above). The struts hold the Morryde extremely well in the upright condition - no locking mechanism is needed. I think the early Morryde steps WITHOUT lift assist struts used the locking mechanism.

Last year I swapped out my Morryde step unit for a Lippert unit - because the first step out of the RV is WIDE and hard to miss on the Lippert unit. DW thought the wide step and the removable hand rail was well worth the expense.
The handrail accessory for the Morryde step would not work with my RV due to the presence of a base cabinet right across from the door...the rail hit the base cab everytime I put the steps inside. I sent the handrail accessory back. The Lippert unit also has strut assist lifts (not as smooth or easy as the Morryde steps) - but you have to get use to how it works. My Lippert unit has the locking mechanism.

So I hillbiliied my steps last night. I was tired squeezing my fingers in and holding the stairs just to close the door. I drilled a hole on the hinge side stair stop and slipped a cotter pin in the hole to hold the steps. Works lake a champ!

To hold our steps up away from the door for Travel, I got a dowel rod about as big as your finger, 40" long and put pipe foam insulation over the ends.
We put the stairs up and put the dowel between the stairs and the wall.
I'm thinking a pool noodle would work just as well.
