? about 2015 F250 V8

Asking for a friend. He's thinking of buying a 2015 F-250 V8 crew cab to pull a New Cedar Creek 34ft (3) slide outs, he said dry weight is 13,500 fifth wheel. Doesn't plan on taking long trips, just to campgrounds couple hours or so away and not to much up and down mountains or hilly terrain. Asking to see if anyone on here has a F-250 V8 pulling a fifth wheel. Thanks Chuck.

I could be wrong but i would think there is not one on here that has a gas V-8 or V-10. If a camper has 13,500 dry weight then there gross weight would be 15,500 or 16.000 pounds and there is not a V-8 or V-10 truck by any of the big-3 that would be rated for that.If i didn't have a camper then i would have a 1/2 ton truck but a diesel is a must for Montanas or Cedar Creek 5th wheels no matter how close or far you are towing.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ what he said. 10,000# on flat would be my limit for a gasser and would still have a diesel.

Is this V-8 gas or diesel?

For what he is using it for a F250 V8 gasoline engine will work just fine. You really don’t need a Peterbuilt.

He should think long and hard about his choice. He might not think he will ever trade up or take longer trips but 99% of the folks on here at least have moved up. There are dozens of threads on here about which trucks are best and it always sparks a very lively debate between the “get enough truck” to be safe and the “you don’t need a Kenworth” folks.

Only your friend can decide which camp he is comfortable in

Having had a gasser V10 Ford and 5er in excess of 12,000 pounds would caution against that combo. The F250 trucks yellow B pillar load rating would be exceeded plus the tow rating may be close or exceed the max as well. I can also say that driving the truck (slowly) up a hilly road would be similar to rowing a boat with the way the transmission will shift.

Looked at a friends Carrying capacity sticker on a F250 CCSB PS and it was 2660. That would really limit the 5er you can pull without getting sideways with a lawyer if involved in an accident.
