Electric Hot Water Heater Question????

I have had my 3700RL for a year now and still have not been able to get the Electric side of the hot water heater to work. I turn the switch at the main control panel and the switch at the panel outside and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait and nothing happens. So I turn the gas side on and it works wonderfully. Any ideas???? This is a brand new 2012 model (slightly used). I've taken it out about 5 times. Purchased in April last year. I've posted on this topic last year and got some suggestions (switch outside for one). I really need some help here. You guys always come through. Patiently waiting.

Have you checked the breaker in the main electrical supply box? Did you consider taking it to someone for warranty repair during first year?

It sounds like a voltage check with a multimeter is needed.
One last suggestion before multimeter is to press the reset buttons behind the black cushions on the outside area.

Do you have power to the heating element? If you do, I would say you have a bad heating element. If you don't, check your circuit breaker or check the reset button on the outside of the WH. It's the rubber square with two detents. One resets 12v, one resets 110v. just press in on the rubber on the detents.

Use a tester to see if you are getting power to the heating element.
If you are them you probably have a burn out heating element.
This could easily have happen if somebody powered up the waterheater without water in it.

The link below is for the same problem someone else was experiencing. There is a ton of information there including how to debug the problem. Read it and see if it helps.

We had the same issue on our 2012 and it was a bad thermostat on the electric side - under $30 to replace. Works like a charm now.

We fad a similar issue on our 2011 3400 RL. After removing the inside cabinet wood cover, we observed that a twist lock had literally either fallen off or worked off a connection and there was a loose wire that had become "untwisted". A new twist lock fixed it.
