The Bed Saver DOES work!
Yesterday while setting up in Edneburg, TX, I pulled the truck out from under the rig too soon and was surprised to feel and hear a jolt/klunk! I had gotten distracted and the rig fell into the bed saver and all was well! Just bought and installed it before this journey and wondered how so many could be so distracted as to have the rig fall on the truck bed. I am now a true believer. Been towing Montanas since 2002 and don't believe that I ever came close to doing this before. This small investment saved a lot of aggrivation and a large repair bill. Thank you MOC Forum for bringing this to my attention!

Glad your $250 insurance item saved you $3000 to $5000 in damage repair. That is the reason I installed one Lasy fall.
Thanks for the post Jim.

It sounds like you are one in a million. Usually most people get them after a problem. You obviously purchased it before hand and have received the benefits from it. Glad everything is ok. As rich mentioned we’re just humans. We can easily be distracted and I know it can happen to the most careful person.
Great investment IMHO!

Glad your rig was saved. Doubly glad since I also have a 5th Airborne and the Blue Ox (Bedsaver) folks could not ever tell me for sure if the combination would work. I installed my Bedsaver anyway and now I have more confidence that it will work with the 5th Airborne.

Anyone thinking about getting the BedSaver should Just Do It! 13 years ago I was distracted, got out of my routine & dropped the 5th wheel. Not much damage to the 5er but they had to replace the bed of my truck. Different truck last year & did it again. Yep - had to replace the entire bed. End of thinking about it!!!! I did have to get a different hitch that was compatible with the BedSaver but now have the backup plan in place. I may never need it again (never say never) but if I do, it is there. In addition, a buddy I travel with did it twice also, about 5 years apart. We both ordered & installed BedSavers at the same time.
I think I need to start a movement to encourage insurance companies to subsidize the cost of the BedSaver like many do for windshield chips. It would cost them less in the long run than to have to pay for the damage to the truck bed, which in my latest case totaled just over $5,000. Regardless, I really feel it is a worthwhile investment for those of us with 5th wheels. mike

We had seen the stories of damaged trucks and rigs and how most of the ones with damage were "going to get a bedsaver." For once, I didn't wait for the expensive lesson and heeded the advice from this forum and now heartily recommend it to all!

Whew, another reason I don't mind having a gooseneck adapter and ball hitch setup (for now at least).
