Thanks for all the fantastic responses everyone! I guess I’m not the only one thinking about this!

Well helllo fellow 3950BR owner! What do you think of yours?

We’ve got about two weeks of camping in so far and love it. No problems yet.

I just took delivery of a 362RD with outside cook top, I have not figured out where to attach the gas line into the cook top. I see the source line coming from the rv...

Any suggestions for me? I must be missing something obvious. Thanks...

The smallest one I saw was approximately $350 and the pellets come in about 5-6 different woods for smoking or whatever. The pellets come in 20 lb bags and normally run about $15 per bag. Thinking strongly on getting one because it will fit in our basement or in the back of the tow vehicle ahead of the hitch.
Before you jump on a Traeger, look at a Green Mountain Grill, model Davy Crockett. Is smaller than the small Traeger, has a MUCH better controller and comes with wifi which is just too handy. In a campground, you can connect your phone or tablet to the grill direct. Set up cooking profiles, etc. Pellets at Wmart, $10 or less for 20lbs.

The DC will run off 12vdc or 120vac comes with all adaptors. Traeger is only 120vac. Wife uses ours like a wood fired oven, killer meatloaf, smoked jalapeno poppers,, smoked bologna is a perfect pot luck take to meat, smoked chicken, and do not forget you can make your own jerky.

I have 3 smokers and with just the 2 of us, find I am using the DC on a regular basis because of its size.

I’m with everyone here who doesn’t like the attached outdoor kitchen! Only thing I would like is an outside sink but I don’t think it would be worth the space or cost. For now we use a water bucket with valve sitting on a small table. Yes we do have the outside shower/hose but it is a bit of a pain to use for washing hands.

Well sold our Traeger Tailgater today as part of our downsizing. I have decided to try GMG. I am wondering if anyone is toting a GMG Daniel Boone around in their pickup bed.

We just got this little guy

No more stink and yuck in the storage compartment and no lifting around.
Will review later if I want a propane line as I think its maybe safer not to offer the BBQ to everybody while in storage

Love it - priceless

Mike

I was planning to modify the legs on a GMG Daniel Boone similar to that Pit Boss. I have not seen a PB but GMG is significantly more stout than our Traeger. I am afraid the smaller grills won't fit a brisket

I take my GM Davy Crockett almost every time I go someplace. We have had it for three plus years and it works great. I carry it in the back of the truck and it sits below the side rails. You can cook everything including an average size brisket. It is a little heavy and awkward if you have to carry it very far.

I have the GMG Davy Crockett smoker and it is great! Operate with WIFI or manual, compact enough for travel, AC or DC, programmable recipes, many features!! I have a big Traeger at home, I love both of them. However I think the Davy C. travels better than the small traeger.

I'm thinking about picking up next of the GMG's or Traeger smokers. How do you transport them? I was thinking about adding a tray to the hitch of my 3820FK and keeping it there,

Well since we have to carry this in our truck bed went with a GMG Davey Crockett. Hope I won't be disappointed by the smaller cooking surface.

This is the best outdoor cooking device I've ever had.

All of our outdoor cooking is over an open fire. We carry a grill that fits over a stake driven in the pit. Best parts are sitting next to the fire getting ready to cook, cooking over the fire and of course-sitting around the fire with a full belly.

The grill I use at home is a Big Green Egg mini. We use real wood charcoal in it 3 or 4 times a week. At 80 pounds a little to heavy to carry but it’s a great grill. The one I carry is one I bought at Lowes. It’s all stainless steel the legs fold up for easy storage and uses a one pound propane bottle for about $80. Cabelas had it for well over a hundred.
