Hello Dave,
Dave it looks as if we'll be about 5 to 6 miles apart so we'll be pushing the limit of the FRS radios. But we'll be a bit above you in elevation so we might be able to make a contact. I'll monitor channel 7 and code 1. Timewise... how about listening at 10am, 12 noon and 2pm....?

I suspect you are correct Dave... it's gonna be crowded. We were there last year about the same time and it was not as bad as I was expecting. Last year was my first year. Looking forward to seeing you and Kelly soon. Take care and have a great trip.

Hi Quartzsiters,

We're going to Quartzsite in style this year!! It'll be our third trip in the Monty but we can only go for 5 days because of work.

We'll be there for the start of the RV show. Maybe we'll see some of you there. I'm going to try to create an embroidery design of the MOC logo for our jackets. So if you see it, stop us and say hi.

Just got back from Q'zite yesterday. The Ponderosa is not a chain restaurant, so won't find it listed and doubt they have a website. It is located right next to the "Main Event" swapmeet on the west end of town. They have an "all-you-can- eat" fish and chips special for $6.95 that includes fries and cole slaw. The Stagecoach Restaurant is located just a little east from the Ponderosa and looks to be popular as well, but have not personally tried it. There is a Mexican restaurant, "Tio Taco", that is on Main Street and is east of Hwy 95 that is very good. They have a rather large dining area for breakfasts ONLY from about 7am-11:00am(?). Their biscuits and gravy is ALMOST as good as MINE!! The Mexican food side is also pretty good. Hope this helps. Still planning on being in Q'zite from 01/11-01/18, so will try to get around to meeting other "Monty" owners.

bigskyguy,
Thanks for the info on the restaurants. Maybe we should make plans for the group to meet at the Ponderosa, since it's for sure really there! But you made my mouth water for the biscuits and gravy and Mexican food. Grew up on the TX/MX border in El Paso, so you *know* what kind of food I like! Fish 'n chips doesn't sound bad either. Of course, all of this is excluded from my New Year's Resolution diet!

How about it, everyone, shall we meet at the Ponderosa? For lunch? How about Monday 17th? Or Friday 21st? (Sorry, those who may miss either date. Or how about both, just to catch everyone?)

Let's do both. We won't be there until at least the 19th. Thanks.

Reading this thread makes me wish even more we were on the road.

Wishing all of you a very enjoyable and happy time in Quartsite. Looks like you all will be able to have a mini Rally of sorts.

Hi Folks,

I’m now in Quartzsite and I had dinner with a friend at Ponderosa Café last night. I made a reservation for Monday for the Montana Owners group (using that name) at 1:00 pm. If you’re planning to attend, I’ll appreciate a head count. The manager seems flexible on the number of people, but it would help to have an approximate number.

Thanks, and see you soon!
Sharon
P.S. The desert is beautiful!

For our second gathering, should we stick with Friday 1/21? Or would a later date work better for those of you who might not arrive by then? I'll assume the Ponderosa will be the place unless we have a bad experience on Monday (tomorrow).

GypsySCM,
We've run into a potential problem and may not make it until the 22nd.... So a later date would help. How about the 25th?

Good to hear your report from the area. It should be great. Thanks for putting this together and have a great time. Hopefully we'll see you soon.

HamRad,
Sorry about your potential problem and hope you can resolve it and make it safely to Q. I'm happy to schedule the second gathering on the 25th.

Is there anyone else who might not be able to make it then?

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Sharon

P.S. Spectacular sunset tonight with a few wispy clouds in the sky, after a wonderful, sunny warm day!

Sorry if I missed anyone at the Ponderosa today. I had reserved a table under the name "Montana Owners" and watched for people who might be looking for the group, but didn't link up with anyone other than my current neighbor who happens to own a Big Sky and decided to accompany me to the gathering.

I hope we'll be able to get more of us together next Tuesday. Please let me know if you're planning to come so I can give an accurate number to the restaurant. I already have Dennis and Mary Kay on my list. Anyone else?

HamRad,
I see that you're still in Bakersfield as of this a.m. Do you know your ETA for Quartzsite yet? It looks like you two will be the only other Montana owners coming to lunch on Tuesday.

Couldn't make it to the get-together on the 17th and didn't know of the change to the 25th (don't have e-mail access on the road YET ). Had to be back to work today (the 24th ) Went to the Ponderosa on the 21st, so this explains why no MOC. When I got to Q'site, had trouble getting the large slide out. Fortunately friends there helped me get it out so I could stay. When I finally got the slide out I noticed that there was water from the back driver-side corner to mid-point of the slide so spent quite a bit of time sopping up water and drying out the carpet. I think the slide wasn't all the way in when I took delivery from the dealer so there wasn't a good seal. Will try to get back to Q'site for the car show Dealer is picking it up Feb 28th, after the Rice Ranch Bluegrass Festival to take back to California to repair.
