Privatizing entrance door window

I am looking at what to do about the clear uncurtained window in the entrance door of our new unit. There is very little room between the window and the screen door so I am considering a window tint. Have any of you tried tinting and if so what type tint did you use and what were the results. It would certainly have to be extremely dark for night time privacy if it works at all.

As a suggestion, there are window films of many different patterns, shades, etc. at Home Depot (and other supply stores I would think). DW has been looking at them repeatedly for the exact same purpose that you mention.

Here is an alternative. Several of us have found stained glass inserts at Quartzsite or Algedones, MX, (outside of Yuma) that fit the door in place of the original. Several people obtained and installed theirs during last years circle.

I put the silver insulating bubble and it works great... I must say that the idea of a stained glass sounds great...

I also used the silver bubble pack to block the view and insulate. Thats the cheap way.

Small , dark-brown curtain and velcro strips allows us privacy and yet is easy to remove should we want to do so.

rhidalgo,
Did the unit come from the factory with a clear glass in the door? I've never seen one with just a clear glass in it. All the ones I've seen are frosted glass -- stuff you cannot see through. Of course many of us have replaced the frosted glass with the "designer" type glass. We bought ours at Algodones but you can get them in the States and even online. Good luck, Dennis

The window has a very light tint, which at night looks like clear glass. You can read the newspaper through it. I thought that something was missing on the unit but was told by the dealer that that's how they all come???

Thanks for all the suggestions. Decided to go with window film. Selected one the said "24 hour privacy". Well, if you're inclined to go around naked, I wouldn't pick this option. We find it at best marginally acceptable with clothes on. It will probably work for this trip or until we see a better option. Thanks again.

We use a curtain, bought the push-in curtain rods. My sister has a quilting shop and she made a embrodered curtain to match our Hickory interior. It stays in all the time, but could be removed in about 2 seconds.
