Yamaha Gen 2400

Added a new Yamaha 2400 ISHC to the TV, trailer setup. It will easily run the single Ac unit. Turned on all the lights, then Ac and then ran the microwave, voltage dropped to 105 volts so looks like I'll have to run AC or microwave separate. Nice generator weighs 75 Lbs but as you can see it's mounted in the bed of the truck. I removed the four bolts that hold the rubber pads to the bottom of the generator then used different bolts to go through the truck bed. Added the chain and locks to detour a thief even more. Bought a 30 amp cord with a 50 amp end, to make the connection simple, just one adapter to the house hold 20 amp plug at the generator.

Talked to my insurance people about putting a add-on to my insurance to cover the generator. They had to call there main headquarters and where told it would be covered with no extra charge. It needed to be permanently mounted to the truck and they wanted a copy of the invoice.

Great! Now, a vinyl cover would further conceal it and keep it clean. Happy Boondocking................

Dennis,
Those are nice units. Nice to learn that it was covered by your insurance with no further cost. It will certainly add some flexibility to where you can stay and still have the benefit of a good electrical connection! Enjoy, Dennis

I looked at this gen. but read that it won't run most RV A/C more than 10,000 btu.
But it seems to be working OK for you on your 13.5k A/C? I was thinking that model would be too small...

We have the same gen and it runs either the 15 k or the 13.5 just fine...kinda like being on a 30 amp site..it won't run the fireplace...we also have a meter that provides us with constant power usage and output of gen....

Nice job! I also have the same generator. Just picked it up at Cabelas about a month ago in their "Bargain Cave",scratch and dent, really cheap. I'm using a couple of cable locks secured to the truck bed and a Weber grill cover with the word WEBER in red letters to "camo" it. It just fits under the tonneau against the front of the bed. It wouldn't run either air cond. until I put a hard start capacitor on each unit. Now either one starts and runs easily (not at the same time).

Hamrad it will be put to the test at Roanoke Rapid, NC. Rapids Jam next weekend three days with no AC or water. Surprised me too about the insurance, thought they might want to make another buck off me!

Mike it works fine on my single AC unit.

Thanks Mobil it is covered with a grill cover now. Poor boys have poor ways! LOL
