Tampa Show

What day is the Tampa get-together for Montana? We are looking at coming down for the weekend. Anything special that happens? This would be our first trip to the Tampa Show.

The show runs from Jan. 14th to the 18th. We all try to gather at the Montana display sometime during the day on Friday the 16th and hopefully we have a good size turnout around 2PM for a group picture.
This rally is about as unorganized as they come. There's no potlucks, no seminars, no group outings, no one particular campground reservations. Just be there or be square and if you can be there at 2PM you'll get your picture taken.
How simple is that????

Thanks, Glenn. We probably wouldn't come down until Friday evening. We'll probably get a rental car and a hotel room in Tampa. Spend Saturday at the show and head back Sunday. Don't know if the show is worth that effort, but I'm sure we'll get more opinions here. Interested to see a few things on the new Monty's in case we order one in February. The swing away sewer connector, LCD TV in the bedroom, interiors and graphics on the Big Sky are our main interests.

Hello, We will be camping in Tampa Jan - Feb 2009 at Bay Bayou RV Resort. This will be our first time to go to the RV show. We would love to know if any MOC members are staying at our campground.

See ya in Jan. 2009

Daryl, Past years we did have some MOCers stay there but I'm not sure about this year. If you haven't been there before I'll tell you right now you didn't make a mistake booking there.

Thanks Glenn for the campground Information. They told me I got the last reservation available for our fifth wheel size. I'm looking forward to the RV show. This may be a smaller show since the smaller RV manufactures are going under.

It will be interesting with the economy to see both sides - will dealers stay away because of cost or will they be there in force to get the available business? And will people conserve money and stay away or go to find a bargain? My guess is there will be fewer dealers and fewer people. We'll see.

Our plans are to be at the show also. We are kinda looking at Motor Homes and have found dealership are willing to deal. A Newmar dealer that we visited said that Newmar is really helping them to sell by lowering the dealer's cost. I agree I think the Tampa show will be smaller than other years, I hope for the industry things turn around. I read on other forums that their brand is doing fine, well I take that with a grain of salt. Just talk to the RV transporters they are not doing much business. Lot of suppliers areound Goshen and Elkhart have cut back or close 2 or three days a week. Its not a good time for anyone during these times. GBY....

Any recommendations for places to camp there? Is there boondocking at the RV show? We live in Orlando and could drive over but it might be nice to spend the night and have two days there. The fiver is just a sittin in my yard waiting to go out and play! :-)

Hi Cindy...no, it wasn't there and I was so disappointed. I wanted to see the 3605 too and that wasn't there either. We are now undecided between the 3400RL and the new 3455SA. Dave thinks the enclosed bathroom would be nice if we plan on going full or long time. I like the feeling of space in the 3400 and the 3455 makes me feel a little claustrophobic after being in the 3400. Oh well, we can't afford either one right now anyway!! Got to pay down or pay off the 2955 before we even think about trading. We found out about a dealership in Elhart, Indiana called Tiara RV that sells Montanas really cheap. Dave thinks they don't come with TVs though from looking at the website. Does anyone have any knowledge of this dealer?

While at the '08 Fally Rally in Goshen, Tiara RV hosted a free dinner one night. They seemed like a good dealer, but, of course, we weren't looking for a new Montana. I have heard good things about them though. Don't know about the TV's.....

TV's as in televisions??

In my foggy and not so functional memory, I seem to remember something about Tiara having every telie stolen out of their units at some time?? Maybe they take them out now till you drive off your new unit??

This stealing of flat screen telies has been happening all over the US in many many RV dealers.

Sad, eh??

We went over one day during the rally last year. They seemed to have good prices, but they limited the options on their units. They did have the standard items - which includes a television.

Did anyone take pictures at the Tampa show? If so, how about posting some.

We purchased our Montana in September, 2008 from Pat at Tiara RV. Very great guy to deal with. Yes our unit had two TV's actually - they take them out now so they don't get stolen. Have fun purchasing!!!!!

Thanks for the replies on the televisions. That is awful that they have to take them out so they won't be stolen. What a world!! Nice comments on Tiara. It gives us some real feedback to go from.
