Worse part is there's no serious rain in the forecast and the lakes around here look very much like that. Here at Council Grove the swimming beach is on dry land and only the mud where it's supposed to be over my head is left with any water on it. What really hurts is what's happening with the ponds used to water cattle and folks wells. Several farmers have already got track hoes and bobcats working to make ponds deeper for next year because they don't have to worry about sinking in. The ponds are bone dry. There are also a number of rural families hauling water because their wells have run dry.
