2004 3400RL, converter location?

My converter is not working. The 12V lights are dimming, and the battery showed less than 11V. I've checked the circuit breaker in the bathroom panel and it's OK. Does anyone know where the converter is located? I understand it has a couple of fuses that may need to be checked. BTW, it's an IOTA.

The box the fuses are in is the converter. Haven't had to find the internal fuses so can't tell you where to look. Dan

The converter is behind the fuse panel in the bathroom..don't ask me how you at it although I am sure there are plenty who have done that.

This is certainly an interesting thread!

We need to refer the guy trying to decide between a Cardinal and a 3400RL to this thread. This rig has been so trouble free, several owners do not even know where the converter is located! To me, that is a ringing endorsement of the 3400...at least the electrical system.

Our converter died a long while back. Had RichFAA's dealer swap it out with a new one, under warranty. I did the replacement.

You have to remove the fuse and breaker panels in the bathroom. You'll see the converter on the panel, behind there. It's probably held down with two screws...Maybe all four. It's not hard to remove. Just make sure you remove power from the unit, and disconnect batteries. There will be a bunch of bundled wiring you'll have to pull that converter through to get it out and put the new one in.

It's amazingly small for A 50-Amp converter.

There was no juice coming out of ours, either. Lost one battery, and barely saved the other because I never made the mental connection of the lights being weak with there being no juice from the converter. Maybe that's because I had two solid deep-cycle batteries.

I check them a lot better, now. Even make sure the batteries read good if I have power off for any reason.

I've also heard that it's not a very unusual problem.

Well, tomorrow being the 4th, I'm going to wait to pull things apart until the RV supply stores are open. I've got the battery on a small charger for the time being, so I'm keeping the 12V side operating.

What year is your montana?

The IOTA converter has a two year warranty.

IF it is within the warranty call them and they will ship you a new one and a return label for your failed unit.
