Parking in San Francisco
Will be camping in Petaluma the week after Christmas and want to visit SF. My wife made me tour guide for her relatives from Japan who want to go to SF. It has been a while since I have been to SF and really don't want to again but the DW wants it sooooo........
In my mind I think I will have a hard time finding a place to park my dually. Has anyone found a place to park with a dually. I am leaning toward taking a bus or ferry from some point to Fishermans Dwarf or the Ferry building and forget that parking hassle.
Any ideas will be helpful. Thanks for your help.

Mike,
If it were me, I'd take the Larkspur ferry into SF. You can get around easily on Muni. It's a great ride on the bay and the cost will be offset by the SF parking rates

I agree with brenkco. It was hard to park my SW longbed! It was a scary time and i know my truck well. Took time to drop and retrieve. Never again!

If you are at the Petaluma KOA....I beleive they offer tours of SF with transportation directly from the campground. Check it out.

A couple years ago we drove into the city and parked out at the wharf. Almost worth renting a car to do it...I was born and raised in SF and my mother taught me to drive in a 1958 Plymouth. Parallel parking on some streets is a real challenge.

Downtown SF has pretty good public transportation. I would suggest parking in a suburb at a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station and get around SF on public transportation. Several years ago Lynne and I took a really fun tour with "Fire Engine Tour Over The Golden Gate Bridge" (Google it). They have been featured on national TV in the past.
Have fun.

We live in Petaluma and always take the Larkspur Ferry whenever we have friends or relatives here that want to go into the city. Once at the Ferry Building it is about a 1 mile walk to pier 39 and a little more to Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square. Or you can take the trolley down from right in front of the Ferry Building.

I would take public transportation, I try not to drive in big cites. Not much anyway.

Thanks for the quick responses. That confirms what I have been thinking. It would be convieneint if the KOA has transportation. Thanks again!
