hard wired surge guard query

I have been thinking of getting the hard wired surge guard installed.
I have 50 amp service and supply cord.
If using 30 amp cord at times, does the surge guard still function?

Still functions just fine. It is adaptable.

illapah, I had a choice of hard wired or the portable type. I went with the portable. No wires had to be cut, just plug and play. Also have used it on two different 5er's and will someday use it again. The 30 cord will work just fine as stated above. GBY...

I use my 50 Amp cord plugged into the portable surge guard and then into a 30 amp adapter into a 30 amp outlet. Works just fine.

I just install a hard wired 50 amp Progrssive EMS/surge guard. I was told by the rep. that I would have no problem using a 30amp service/cord. I install mine behind the vacumn next to the power panel. This unit came with a remote monitor that I mounted below the electric panel next to the door, can see condition of power without going in trailer.
Good Luck

I installed a 50 amp hard wired surge guard in our 3075 the same way as mtheo did. It was easy to install, less than 2 hours. I really liked the remote monitor, and will be installing the same type in our new Monty. The 50 amp will work fine on a 30 amp extension cord, that is what we use most of the time.
