Wireless Cameras
I'm putting this in the Campfire section because it is just a piece of information on wireless security in general.
Did you know that all those wireless cameras that we tend to purchase can give up some or your privacy. It's to bad with back-up cameras, but those who have wireless monitors in their houses can have a problem.
Backup cameras, and household children's wireless monitor cameras do one thing and one thing well. They BROADCAST a wireless signal. Unfortunately this signal can be picked up by any wireless monitor just passing by, or a not so nice neighbor. Some people purchase wireless back-up cameras and switch them from vehicle to house to monitor children's bedrooms. (I'm talking about infants here)
Some owners have set their camera's up to visualize the entire bedroom. So, when they are "feeding," the child it is being "broadcast," and passer-bys with a monitor can view whatever is going on in front of the camera.
I think y'all get the picture.
The best way to set up a wireless camera system in your home is to use a computer wireless connection with full encryption.
Also, the newer digital wireless monitors have a built in encryption system, whereas the old, and some still being sold, analog wireless cameras broacast in the clear.
Just something for folks to think about. Especially if you have kids or grandkids.
