Needing a fire marshal!
Ok folks, been hearing from some of our attendees and the thoughts are we need a couple fires. The suggestions are that we "donate" a couple bucks a camper and have a person purchase the wood from the cg and start the fires. We do not need enough wood for anyone to cook anything more than smores or for all nighters, just two evenings.
Now, I'm asking for someone to step up and volunteer for this easy task and for everyone else to not bring wood to the cg.
Any takers?

We'll kick in some money for the wood also. How about we set out a donation can for the fire wood and just let who ever wishes to throw something in there to help with the cost of the wood.
Since I was a firemen for over 30 years I guess I can take this assignment on! Just Call Me "Old Smokey"
Do they have fire rings at each site or did I read somewhere that someone mentioned that they only have little rings or pans?

Scott, they give you the little pans to use for the fires.
Thank you for stepping up and volunteering.
We will put a donation can out for the wood and have us a real fiar!
If each unit put $4.25 in the can that would surely cover all the fires we want!

Also, Steve, if you recall, not only are the pans small, but so are the sites, so we need to try to find a common area somewhere that can even hold 10-12 people at a time. I don't recall seeing anything like that up there. I know they have that new 50 amp area. Last time I was there they were still building that, so I don't know how that turned out.
Maybe a call to the CG? At least they know who you are now...

PackerFan, I can also give you a hand with that. Gail and I won't have a problem kicking in enough for a couple bundles of firewood. I also don't have a problem throwing whatever we purchase into the back of my truck.
We can get it figured out once we get there. Perhaps we can get three of those little fire pans and set them in a triangle and have 3 fires going at once so, all of us can congregate around them. Just a thought.

Dave, we will be in the rally section, so maybe we can find an area big enough to put a couple pans together like Dale suggests.
I will leave that up to Scott to figure out the best place!
I hope we have room for some Ezups, we will need the shade/shelters also.

We'll be happy to chip in(no pun intended) for the firewood also. I saw some at Menards I'm thinking of using here locally. It's like the processed logs you buy for the stick fireplaces and were relatively cheap also if that is any help!

MIMF, Thanks for the offer to help, between the two of us we should be able to handle this.
Working for the Fire Department I am used to starting Backfires and Burnouts in the woods. We managed to catch the last one I did and keep it to around 8000 acres if I remember right! But, not to worry, the evacuation.......I mean everything, should go smoothly.

You don't actually have to use their firepans, you can have your own. Your fire just needs to be contained. One person we sat with a few years ago actually used an old washing machine tub and you saw the fire thru the holes, really neat. You can buy the pan that they have @ Big R or somewhere like that. It is just a shallow pan for feeding animals. It is just that most people don't know that ahead of time and are not prepared with their own pan. Their fire rules stink but it is still the best place up there to camp, in our opinion. Great place to bike, large swimming pool, the view from the lakefront is unbeatable. Sorry we don't get to go, paperheart

Paperheart is correct - we can use any container structure we want. Any ideas?

I guess they never heard of just making a circle of rocks at each of the campsites?

Hi all, have some bad news. We have to cancel on this trip! I hope someone else can step up and take over being the Fire Marshal.
Everyone have a great time and take care.
Scott
