i don't remember who's idea it was. but you can put rubber o-rings behind the latch's. get o-ring's just big enough for the screw to go through. do not tighten the screw's reel tight. this will let the latch give. easy to open and stops breakage. the post i got this from was about 1 and 1/2 years ago.

It was not originally my idea but I picked it up here. The o-rings really do work. I installed them the way haslcs said. I snugged the screws up pretty good so they won't work loose but not super tight. It really works well.

If I can find the picture I took awhile back I'll post it here.

Funny, I was just going to post a question about the same thing. I'll try the o rings.

We installed a sliding latch that was used on the new Big Sky's when they first came out. We understand that they are not used anymore. Some members claim that they didn't hold but we have not had a problem with them. They were easy to install and you can't cut yourself on them. Got them at a local Montana dealer. Traveled cross country east to west and north to south and have not had one come open.

The nice thing about the o-rings is they cost me around a quarter for four of them at Ace Hardware. I wish I could remember who first posted about the o-rings so proper credit could be given.

Which closet are you all talking about? The one with a door, or the sliders? We have a 2007 3400RL but have not made any long trips yet. I would like to be proactive on this before we do travel. Thanks!

There're talking about the sliding closet doors in the bedroom.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but you might want to take a file and take off the sharp corners. They can inflict PAIN.
