Wall Sconce Lamp Shade

Has anyone replaced the lamp shade on the 120v wall sconce? One would think you just remove the bulb and the shade would be easy to remove. Not the case! The fixture appears to be pressed together? We went by our local Montana dealer, they had the replacement shades in stock, but had no idea on how to disassemble the lamp without ruining it. Suggested we buy a whole new wall sconce. Really? Figured we aren't the only people to have the shade discolored by someone putting a 60 watt bulb in the 40 watt rated lamp. The downside of buying a used trailer.....

My 120vac wall sconce has a square shade that has the normal "unscrew the knob on top of it", just like household lamps have had since being converted from gas. If yours is a variation of the pendant fixtures over my island...you have to take out the bulb, unscrew the socket which will allow the glass shade to separate from the lamp fixture. Of course, you will have to cut the wires and take it off the wall to do this. Hope this helps. John

If you can get the shade off, you might want to consider spray painting all of them to give them a fresh look that fits your individual taste. I covered mine with burlap and trimmed with twine and pine cones.

Hi Lynn

I actually considered replacing or customizing as suggested. It's just crazy how they are put together. Thinking it's going to be an intervention of totally removing, rewiring and hopefully not damaging the fixture.
