Bad hydraulic hose

While doing my routine inspecting, I discovered a bulge in one of the orange 3000 psi extend hoses. This is at a compression fitting at the hose coming from the pump where it connects to the manifold. I contacted LCI and was advised to not disconnect the hose, as we are parked with the jacks down and the tech said there is pressure in that line. Hopefully this holds until we get to our next stop where we can get it into a dealer for repair. This is something else to check when inspecting our rigs.

Is there a possability that maybe somebody held in the out button a bit to long causing the line to rupture (children ?)or just a bad pipe.
The hose can have a new end connected installed providing that there is extra hose available, otherwise you might have to replace the lines that are bad. or if its still under warintee get keystone to repair it.

I work at a place that has as much hydraulic lines as electrical wiring it seems ... your photo shows something that happens to us from time to time. Hopefully you'll get ahold of a place with a portable hydraulic crimper that can swedge a new swivel fitting on the end of the existing hose once the bad is cut off. (Given you have enough slack) I wouldn't press for a entire new hose unless absolutely needed as your failure may have been something as basic as the tech not shoving the hose in the fitting all the way before swedging it.

Same thing happened to me, but it was the bedroom slide, the hose was under the bed, out of sight. I was fortunate to catch it. The bubble was only fromed with the outer covering, the actual leak was very tiny but I repaced the whole hose, easy to do.

sometimes they tear the inner liner when inserting the fitting. so fluid has gotten between the cover and the inner part of the hose. Hopefully as diesel guy said they can re-swedge a new end on the hose if it is difficult to remove. If it is easy, replace the hose

It does appear that the fluid is under the outer layer, and it is a bit soft when I squeeze it, so it seems that there is a slight leak at the fitting which has gotten into the cover. There is twice as much hose as needed in this run, so that is my intention, to just get a new fitting installed. These hoses are rated for 3,000 psi, so are over the rating of the pump, so the bypass protects the system from a blowout of a line if a switch is held a bit too long. Just running out of time today, going to get all the Marathons off of this rig and having G614's installed before we head out tomorrow. Tired of worrying about a failure when traveling. Have only had one actual failure on the road and that was from debris on the road, probably a piece of metal kicked up from the front tire and slashed the rear tire diagonally across the tread area. Fortunately, no trailer damage.

There is some high pressure tape that you could wrap that bubble tightly with until you are ready tpo repair it.

Dieselguy has it correct. That is a typical “blister” caused by improperly inserting the inner sleeve and then when the crimping machine finishes the installation the inner lining gets cut.

If that hose came with the trailer when it was new then in could be impact damage. Normally the damage done when the hose is crimped shows up within one or two operations.

The fellow cleaning some Myrtle bushes at my place had to change a hose and the bad crimp showed a blister like that within minutes of installation.

Got the problem solved today. Have a friend from church who wrenches on anything including farm equipment, who assisted me. Just removed the bad hose, took it to a local auto parts dealer who makes up all kinds of hydraulic hoses, and in maybe 10 minutes, the guy at the store had a new hose ready. It only needed to be about 2 feet long, so now have a 6,000 psi hose in place of the bad hose.
