Denver

I like to pre-plan long in advance. Can anyone recommend an RV park in the Denver/Boulder, CO area? It will be a July or August trip. In return, if anyone wants a recommendation for Alberta or BC let me know!

Planning in advance is what you will need to do for camping near Denver.
We like Cherry Creek state park. Many spots with FHU. You need to reserve 6 months ahead. It fills quickly.
All paved roads, many pull throughs. Very clean and the park staff and rangers are helpful and friendly. It's our #1 choice for the Denver area.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it or the area.

We stayed in Chatfield State Park in Littleton and it is very nice with FHUs and lots of room between sites.

Also look at Chatfield State Park, SW of the metro area, but close in and easy access to everything. Not as crowded as Cherry Creek, but seems to fill up fast on summer weekends.

Clear Creek RV Park in Golden Colorado just west of Denver. I'd stay there again if I were heading into the area. Nice town and a nice park right on the creek. Oops they don't take reservations. I liked it enough that i'd reserve something elsewhere as a plan B.

Chatfield is a good recommendation if you don't mind a lot of open space with not a lot of shade and few trees. That can get a bit toasty in the middle of the summer. Depends on what you like.
I agree that Cherry Creek fills up fast. There's a reason for that... it's quite popular.
Go to www.reserveamerica.com for reservations and info.

We have stayed at both state parks and highly recommend them. As mentioned earlier, make your reservations now.

The Jefferson County Fairgrounds (W & E only) and Dakota Ridge (fairly pricey)are both in Golden, CO which are very accessible to the mountains, Denver & Boulder. Clear Creek RV Park is very nice, but almost impossible to get in to since they don't take reservations and they have a lot of full time residents.

We stayed at Dakota Ridge 2 nights and it is pricey. As stated, good access to Golden and Denver. The location drives the price they charge. I expected better roads in the park. Staff was friendly. Cement pads for your RV.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Dakota Ridge was one of the parks I found online a few weeks back.

golden area. like stated above, clear creek in golden. but, you have to call the day your entry at exactly the correct time. call them and they will explain.
also, as a backup or short term there is the state fair just down the road from golden. basic but okay.
