Follow the bouncing stairs?
The boss and I are taking the 08 3400 in for some work to the dealers today, and while on our way, just out of town I noticed the stairs had popped out and opened. Boss said she was sure she tucked them in before we left, and I didn't remember seeing them out on our walk around. So we stopped, I folded them back up and a way we go. Few minutes later, notice they've popped out again! Boss said I used too much WD 40 on 'em. I went back and bungee corded them in. No more problems. Is this normal?!!!

I feel better when I place a bungee across then. I probably wouldn’t have to because they are pretty stiff and they have always stayed in place before I started using it. I just like having the added security of having it on them.

My steps popped out one time while on the freeway. I believe the stiff cross wind hitting us from the left may have had something to do with it. I now have a good bungee cord on the steps at all times while traveling.....just in case.

Mine are stiff enough to open that I can't really imagine them popping open! I do have some extra bungees laying around though...

I've used OldGuards idea for 3 years now and it works perfect! you don't have to remember a bungee cord because OldGuards fix is permanently attached.
Thanks Bill!

That's a GREAT idea from Oldguard. Bungees don't weather well, I've had some of these age and break over time when they are in constant use. Oldguard's idea being all metal should last forever and be completely worrisome (when done right). I am most impressed that you trained your dog to do it, but can the little guy reach?

Here is a pic of mine. Similar to The Oldguard, only I use a snap pin that you don't lose the key. I also used a platic coated cable instead of chain. Works slick .....JB

Was traveling back home yesterday and mine came open twice! We had very strong crosswinds which I'm sure caused it. It has never happened before - guess I'll be implementing the pin fix soon!
