Replace washer/dryer

I need to replace my splendite w/d. We got vandalized and my splendite was stolen. I was wondering about replacing it with a stackable apartment type washer, one that can be used with 110v dryer.
Our Insurance is depreciating the spendite to a replacement value. We would have to pay the difference of around 350. dollars. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have 50 amp service when you wash clothes? If so, you really have 220 V service in the RV. I just threw out my Majestic washer and dryer and upgraded to Maytag stacables, 24" wide. They fit in the washer dryer cabinet where in my 3400RL. I did have to spend about $50 for parts to put in a 30Amp/220V Breaker for the dryer, but, since the breaker panel is right behind the laundry closet, that was not problem. The capacity is 3 times that of the majestic, washes and dries faster, and the clothes are not perma wrinkled when they come out of the dryer. It was an easy thing to do. If you need more info, email me. joe_bogstad@yahoo.com.

Incidently, I have the old washer and dryer avaialble for free if some one will pick them up. They work to OEM specs.

Thanks for your reply. I e-mailed you and will keep in touch when we figure out what will fit into our space.

Whirlpool makes a washer and stack dryer that will fit into a small space. The dryer is 220. You would need a special plugin for that and would have to be plugged into 50 amp when you do laundry. These are front loaders and not tiny tubs.
This will be my next brand. Cost around $1,200. at Lowels.

When we traded for the new Big sky, the old one had Kenmore stackables. The only problem was the configuration would only allow one or the other to be used plus if you used either the washer or the dryer, you could not run the second A/C.

In the new unit we installed the Splendide stackables. Now we can run washer, dryer and second A/C all at the same time. This was a big improvement as far as we were concerned. Things go much quicker and cooler.

Sounds like the same Majestic units we bought new for this 3400 when it was new. They lasted a whole month before we paid to have them swapped out in favor of the older Crosley/Whirlpool stack we had in our 2003 3295RK for four years. We are far happier with the Majestics gone. Those Majestics had Vicki in tears after so many troublefree years of service with the Whirlpools.

We have Splendide's in our unit as well and wife won't use them. Can't tell what temp your wash water will be (manual is no help!!) because the dial is so touchy; takes forever to dry a load (separate dryer and vented outside); we are hoping to upgrade to whirlpools or maytags from sears this coming spring. However, with fuel, new grandkids, and stick house repairs, who knows what the future will really bring. Whatever, happens, right now the washer/dryer are just dead weight we carry around.

I am guessing that you cannot use the dryer if you are in a park that only has 30 amp hookups?

30 amps will not work as it is only 110 V. The dryer only uses 2200 watts which is les than 10 Amps fo 220V but is 20 amps at 110 V.
