Karen and I are having a spirited conversation on where our washer/dryer combo drains. I say it drains into the front gray water tank, she says it drains into the black water tank. I remember the service tech telling us that we had to make sure we kept the gray water valve open during operation. She remembers the tech telling her the black water valve had to be open. Sooooo without sitting around all day with both valves open, who is right?

I like TT2's idea, too.
We have the washer/dryer combo and it says before using the washer/dryer to be sure to open the gray tanks. We never open the black tank, only do that when it needs to be dumped, and flushed. Use my washer all the time and have not had anything back up. Maybe not all Montana's are set up the same way. Maybe Keystone could enlighten us about which tanks should be left open when we use our washer/dryer combo.

.My theory is that the "craftsman" or "a craftsman" who hooks up the lines has no idea which is which and just hooks them up where ever.
Mebbeso, but every "black tank" I've ever seen is actually black in color while the gray tanks are a light color. Surely they can tell the difference in those... I am really curious the rationale they tell you.

After reading this thread I had to go out and check. Our rear W/D drain pipe is like jackw87’s and not connected to any tank. It is connected directly to the Dump pipe. I’m going to install a check valve to make sure we don’t get methane gas backup.
