3400RL TV Mod

I replaced the old style TV in my 3400RL with a 32" Vizio flat screen. I installed in in such a way that the new TV swings open allowing ample room behind for our printer which freed up space on the desk top. It actually slides out when you swing the TV out. The TV also swings in two directions allowing viewing from the kitchen and dining area. This was a great mod. If anyone is interested in how I did this. Hope your MOD works for you...a bit curious, our 2010 3400 original living area TV does pretty much what you are describing...what year is your 3400?

You can post the pictures on the forum so all can see, you don't have to do it via e-mail. If you need help on how to post them, there is a tutorial on the home page if I recall correctly. I use Photobucket.com as the host site.

It`s a 2006, before they installed flat screens.

I did pretty much the same on our '06 3400, only I cut the front of the cabinet sides so the TV would fit inside the cabinet and is mounted on a articulating arm. I then put a frame around the new hole. Looks OK, not professional but we like it just fine. Finding a TV the proper size was a little difficult and we ended up with a HP HDTV LCD that is 720p. With my eyes I can't really tell the difference between this and a 1080p. The TV has slipped about 1/4 inch over the years so I might end up redoing the mount.......We added a Yamaha 7.1 AV Receiver and Bose speakers that almost fit in the holes in the cabinet. A little filing was all it took to get them in. Added two of the Bose under the rear cabinets. Sound galore.....

I like that idea that it swings into the dining area. I am envisioning that project and have a pretty good idea what I want to do and the swing into the dining room is something to think about. But I just might just add a smaller screen for the dining table if we want to view TV that bad.

Pictures would be nice. It would give you a chance to learn how to resize and post them. Be patient. My first few times of doing it seemed like an awful pain, but I get better and quicker each time, so it's worth the effort.

I didn`t make this mod to view the TV from the dining area. It was just another benefit. The real advantage was the added storage space and it provided a great place for the printer which cleared space on the desk. I tried the tutorial to post pictures but it was of little use. Why is it so difficult?

If you register an account at Photobucket.com (free), this will be a location to store your digital photos (in albums if you prefer). Once you get the photos downloaded to Photobucket, it will show you the pictures and if you scroll your cursor across them, there will be four codes shown below the picture. The bottom most listing is the IMG code which can be copied directly into a response or posting on the forum. You can then preview the posting to see what the photo will look like in your post. Hope this helps. As Art said, the first couple of times seem cumbersome, but once the process is learned it is an easy thing to do. Hope this helps.

I wonder how we could gather all the Tv mods, cabinet mods, hitch mods, any mod that has been done a few times in one place?
That way, we could choose the best way for our talents, type trailer, budget and so on.

I think the second post in this thread stated that is how the newer units are made. don't know for sure since we have a different rig.

Man, I had to go out and open up the Monte to look it over, (29 degrees...brrr) I will do this. We bought a nice Sony flat screen for our video security system, when we hitch up, we will take it and mount it like you did!
