Question for the tire experts!
Ok, so I had a flat on the way to Florida last month on the Montana. I have two tires wearing on the inner and outer tread like they were run low psi. One tire is door side front axle the other is opposite door side rear axle.
I am very cautious about tire inflation and watch the wear after having new axles installed on our other Montana. These tire are kept at 80psi checked quite often during a trip.
The flat tire was taken to the local Goodyear dealer and their explanation to me was " that's typical trailer tire wear" ! Can you believe that?
They just called and said the tire cannot be fixed as it is leaking thru the tread, not the hole they "plugged", but are not going to say they were defective tires!
Did I mention the tires were Marathon and you can guess where they were made. The tires have less than 6000 miles on them and will be replaced when we return from Florida in the spring.
Has anyone ever heard the typical trailer wear theory?

Yes I have.
It happens with Marathons (China) when a dealer can't explain the wear pattern.

I had over 5,000 miles on my Missions before I replace them. There was real sign of wear at all. Still looked basically new, except for some bulges starting to form on the inside sidewalls.
Have over 6,000 miles on the Michelins now. Again, they still look new. No real signs of wear.

Steve,
we had that kind or wear on our tires and even Dexter couldn't explain it. It turns out the camber was off that made them wear on one side and the toe-in was off which created wear on the other. A good alignment shop fixed that for us

Replace them now before you end up with a major blow out and significant damage to the rig. Speaking from experience!

Ok, so here's the report from the local Goodyear dealer. Sorry that you have the China tires! That's typical trailer tire wear.
Here in Troy is a small auto repair shop owned and run by a friend of mine. He called his Goodyear tire supplier and got a number for the Goodyear Co. service center.
They agreed the tire had tread separation and will replace both tires if I pay 38% of the replacement tire, good enough for me! Now why do I have to go somewhere else to get a Goodyear tire taken care of, what good is this Goodyear dealer if they won't service their own tires? Remind you I'm only talking about the dealer here in Troy, not about any other Goodyear dealer!
Now I feel comfortable enough to bring the Montana back home in the spring and then will get the G614s installed all around! However, they won't be Goodyears from the local dealer.

I also had Marathon tires I lost two, so I went around C S and called the Headquarters after some hageling Steve Booth said I'll buy back your Marathon for $572 after you send me a proof that you purchased the G-614's. I did last week and now waiting for the check? If you want his number it is 330-796-5448 please don't refer to me untill I get my check. I had been in contact with CS since June and did every thing they wanted me to do before I called HQ. THANKS JACK

Steve,
Best price I found on the 614's was at Sam's. They usually don't have them on site and they have to be ordered. If I remember right, I paid $236 a tire plus all of the usual charges.

I have read many threads on the tire issue, and I'm convinced I wll be installing G614's on my 2011 with less than 200 miles. One question has anyone had problems with the marathons made in the U.S.

Ken,
Are you saying that your Marathon's have "Made in U.S.A." stamped on them?? I didn't know Keystone had provided any like that. with regards to your statement regarding upgrading the tires at 200 miles, I have you beat, I upgraded ours at 0 miles. The Marathon's that came with the rig, were taken off and replaced with 614's before I took the rig away from the dealer.

It's my understanding that all Goodyear Marathon tires are made in China. If incorrect tell me where they are made in US?

Just got mine exchanged at the dealer. The 614's are a much heavier tire. I could not believe how wimpy the sidewalls were on the Marathons once removed. Cannot wait for spring to get on the road.
