Maxx Air

We just received a MaxxAir Turbo/Maxx that I'll install. This will be going over the bedroom ceiling vent. We pick up the new Monty on Monday and were wondering, there is an electrical cover plate on the ceiling right beside the vent. It indicates there is a power connection for the air conditioner. Is there existing 12 volts available behind the vent flange to power the MaxxAir?

Thanks
Dave

I have a factory prep A/C plate at that vent on my 2006 3500RL (frontmost vent over the bed). But when I looked in there, it only has two wires that I suspect go back to the 110v power distribution panel and no 12v. It is designed for a standalone 120v 20amp A/C unit (which is on our shopping list) - no 12v in our case.

It should be easy to check. Just remove the cover plate and the wires should be in there. If only one pair, then it's probably 110v.

Same here WRT that blank cover plate by the front vent. If you check your A/C distribution panel you will see a 20 amp breaker for those wires marked 2nd AC or front AC. Hopefully it is off. If still unsure check the voltage at the wires with the breaker on.

If you have wires going back to sub panel you it is an easy fix. Check to be sure nothing else is on that curcuit and then put those wires to the 12 volt panal, there should be open spaces there. If the wires can handle 120 volts it surely can handle 12 volts

Mark. That's a great idea. Since we won't be installing AC there and it should be a dedicated line to a breaker, I'll diconnect at the breaker and swing the wires over to a battery feed. I'll check and make sure there's nothing else on the breaker.

Thanks
