When a savings ain't.

In making our plans to go to Branson, I checked out a Passport America CG near Harrison, AK. The 50% rate was $16 for a 50 amp site. It was 10 miles off the beaten path making a total 20 extra miles. It is not near shopping, so more miles.

Another CG, not PA but Good Sam, is $20. It is right off the Highway and virtually in the city limits near shopping. The difference is $4.00, but the fuel is at least $8.00+ more to get to and from the $16.00 CG.

Sometimes 10% is better than 50%. Diesel new math.

Stiles,
You need to be an accountant or mathematician now a days to get the best deal. I have a spread sheet comparing the three Diesel stations, cost, distance and savings based on estimated number of gallons needed to fill the tank. Sometimes it was better to spend 15 cents a gallon more and not drive the extra 20 miles, obviously it was not an empty tank. I know what you mean.

I do the same with trip planning. I look at the shortest route and then the quickest. Since my max speed is 60 and I try to stay around 55 the shortest route may be the most cost effective. Coming home this Monday I cut 20 miles off the trip making it 70 instead of 90 by using the shortest. Not a bad drive in the middle of the day.

We stayed at the Stagecoach RV Park this summer and loved it. It is Passport America and is close to everything. It has wi-fi also. They take recommendations. The price is $15 a night and $3 extra if you want a pull through. We are going back there in May for a few days. Hope this helps.

$3.00 for a pull thru!! That gets me cranked like $8.00 for sewer!! I just look at those people and tell them I can backup and then ask where the dump station is.
