Bear Mattresses
We have the 2006 3295RK with a king size bed with rounded corners. Our bed is killing us! We have tried memory foam and have also bought another type of thinner mattress topper over the Internet. Neither one did the job. We have talked to many who love the Sleep Number beds, but we would have to switch to a queen in order to get the slides in. We are considering ordering a Bear Mattress. I wrote Bear and they can custom make one. Does anyone else have a mattress from Bear Mfg? How do you like it? What model did you get (i.e. Teddy Bear, Ultra Bear, Deluxe Bear)? Any other comments?
Thanks,
JackieK

Don't know anything about Bear Mattresses - we have a feather mattress about 4 inches thick to put on top of the mattress in the rig - sooooo comfy!

We have the deluxe bear Queen size, Same size as the OEM Montana mattress 60X80..Had it since day one..Very satisfied. The big sell factor over the Sleep number, Which is IMO the very same bed, is that the air pumps are built into the mattress so you do not have to find a place to put them in a RV.Think about this.. The sleep number is a PR Gimmick, anyone who has one in the RV and goes through changing altitude knows that if you do not let the air out they will blow up like a life raft(as will the bear bed). It is OK in your stick house that remains at the same altitude and the sleep number 35 is always 35.As you travel across the country the sleep number will constantly change. The bear bed does not have that feature (it is copy righted by sleep number bed) I think we paid @1000.00 delivered to our door From Calif. The sleep number was @ 600.00 more if we had purchased it 5 miles away.

From the other side of the bed.....We have the sleep comfort and love it. Had it from day one and have had no problems. One of the things that I like about is the fact that thoguh it does get larger with altitude, it is controllable...as is the bear bed. If we know we're going to be going through mountains that day, we release aobut 20 lbs of air, and then at night all we do is enter our number is the controller and it will return to the original setting. We do have the pump outside of the bed, but that really isn't a problem, its right beside the bed on the DW's side. and in the new 3400 will also sit on the same side up at the head on the floor. PR gimmick or not we like it. The Bear bed is also a good one. You won't go wrong with either one.

Hi Rich, we have one on order (for the stick house and then plan to get another for the Fifth wheel when we get it). One question we thought of, does each pump plug in separately? Since I know outlets are precious commodities in the 3400 (or 340) how many outlets do we need, just for the bear bed? Thanks also for the info re: altitude, not a problem, just something that hadn't even crossed our mind. Thanks, Sue C

It has the 2 controls and in the 06 3400 there is no outlet at all in the slide. The outlet is in the closet by the TV amplifier. We ran a line from that outlet through the closet to a power strip that is along side the bed. You of course have to unplug it before running the slide. There may be a better way of doing that but I took the easy way out.We are also ordering one for the stick house after having this one for 9 months in the Montana.

We have had a Bear Bed for over 5 years. It has served us very well. We had problems with a couple of the air liners, but they were replaced under warranty with no problems.

Just a reminder as I learned that if they have to make yours to a special size 72x80 theres no 14day trial. It's yours to keep. Our's has a hill in the middle where the two air bags go together which makes the bed look terrible when it's made.Alot of people love the air beds but alot don't and $1,200,00 is alot of money to find which one you are.I just listed ours in this RV park for half price for a one month old Bear Bed.

One thing we did have the Bear Bed company make for us was a piece of foam to go down the center of the bed to separate the two chambers to make the bed better suited for each person.
