Bigfork, Montana

Bigfork Chamber of Commerce recently published this video about Bigfork, Montana on U-Tube. My wife and I lived there for 18 years before going Full-Time in our RV. I would definitely recommend visiting the area if you pass thru !

You're welcome ! It's beautiful country, Bigfork is about 1 1/2 hours South of Glacier National Park.

We were visiting Big Fork in the mid 80's. We went to the Big Fork Rock Shop and was wondering if it is still operating. I believe a Mr Keho owned it at that time and his samples of rock from around the world where Museum quality. The frames of Montana agate where spectacular as he wrote the book on cutting Montana agate. If it is still operating it is worth the trip to it. When we were there Mr. Keho was &0 years old and had started the shop in 1950.

I seem to remember he passed away but the business is still being operated by someone in the family. In other words it is still there as of the time we left in October 2008.

We couldn't agree more. Montana is spectacular and Big Fork is a gem! Flathead Lake is just gorgeous too. We are quite partial to Montana and this is one of the reasons why. With a son living in Missoula, we have enjoyed many trips all around Montana and can't wait to return.

Sitting near the Flathead River at Hungry Horse. The south fork is emerald green but the Flathead is brown and angry with major debris floating down. Suspect the lake will catch it.

I worked at the Flathead Lake Lodge in 1953 I was 15 years old and did odd jobs and took guests out on horseback rides. I finally went back 50 years later one of the sons runs it now, I used to babysit him and his brothers when Les and Dolores went out. Those were gret times.

That would be Doug & Dan Averill, they both ate at our restaurant many times. Doug runs Flathead Lodge & Dan is into Real Estate.
