hydraulic pump on Montana Mountaineer question

Getting the 5er out of mothballs for summer and after a huge hailstorm, to inspect all the damage. I attempted to put out the slides and the two smaller ones went out all the way but the large one went out all but about 6 inches and the pump sounded like it was running empty, checked the resevoir and it was empty. My question is what kind of hydraulic fluid do you use? I know to check fluid levels with the slides in. Some people say brake fluid and some say atf fluid. Need some professional advice from you fellow moc'ers
Thanks
