Oysters in the Desert?

We had an impromptu group dinner this evening for those hardy souls who arrived early in Quartzsite and are trying to survive in this inhospitable environment. Deep fried turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, salads of every possible type, and dessert. Not too shabby!

This is part of the crowd getting ready to dive into the meal

But the highlight was fresh Tomales Bay (CA) oysters delivered by DHenry direct to the dry and arid campground. Here you can see a few of the campers enjoying them.

You never know where your next meal is coming from out here and consequently one has to take advantage of every opportunity.

Wow, it looks fantastic!
We made it to Orange Grove in Bakersfield at 8 pm tonight. Great spot. We'll be staying 2 nights in Indio visiting friends and arrive in Q on the afternoon of the 13th. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone later this week. Too bad the oysters will be history!!!

Mariana

PS Robbie looks like Richard Dreyfus...

Looks like the fun has started. Have Ray stake out some good rock collecting areas. We will see you on the 19th.
