Baldicoin stated in post #14....."I had thought about mounting the reel to a piece of plywood slightly larger than the reel footprint and when ready to roll it up, attach it to the picnic table with a couple of quick clamps and then slide it into the basement when reeled up. It wouldn't be permanently mounted and can be moved aside for basement access."

Only they can answer why they want it to be mobil and not stationary in the basement.

I have the smallest and most economical manual one. Have it mounted in the side compartment right next to the camper's connection and it works great and is plenty large enough to hold the standard 50A cord. Will be back at CFP on the 12th so stop by and see.

I may have to look into one of those reels. Our previous RV used a 30 amp cord and it was tiny compared to this monster 50 amp cord!

With mine being mounted on the Mor-Ryde tray I just slide the tray out to get behind my reel if I need something. I like traveling in cool weather and I got tired of fighting the stiff cord. The reel does take up a little more room than if you just throw your cord on top of everything when packed up but with the reel and tray I can be a little more organized even with a little larger footprint. I doubt anyone who has the reel would go back to fighting the cord.

I know there are those that will hate this, but I have replaced my Anaconda with a smaller 4 wire, #10, 30 amp cord. Not the standard 30 amp, 120 volt but a 30 amp 220 volt cord. This cord rated at 38 amps I think. When looking at my Progressive EMS, I pull less than 30 amps even with both AC's running. Not much bigger than the standard 30 amp cord and very flexible.
Just an idea.

Did you resize your breaker to 30 amps or you just using the power cord as a fusable link?

You're new cable is only rated for 30A regardless of the voltage rating. Plus with a smaller conductor (compared to the 50A cord), you will have more voltage drop to the trailer. But no longer than the cord is, it probably won't make much of a difference. If you have to use a 30A extension cord and the park is already experiencing low voltage, the smaller cord could push you under the EMS low-voltage dropout setting. But if it's working for you, then that's the bottom line. Others can correct me if I misspoke.

The Morryde manual reel mounted on my basement slide out tray works great. If you are anywhere near San Antonio, my son has one for sale for $75. His new unit has a power reel built in.

I wind up the original 50 amp cord in the basket CW sells. It doesn't take up much room. I made a 50 amp extension cord and mount it on the basement organizer off the floor.

Love my MorRyde manual reel! Highly recommend! It attached in the basement with only 4 screws! For mechanically challenged guys like me it was a breeze to put it. Takes up the same room ( if not less) than the cord rolled up by hand. You won’t regret buying it.

Dang! That's completely opposite of what my basement looks like. Do you have any more pictures?

I have been using a tote or depending on available room, just laying it in the bay on top of the other items I carry. I do like the idea of being able to keep all the additional electrical parts with the cord so I just ordered the bag. Thanks for the tip.

He’s actually getting two legs of 30 amps, so a total of 60 amps, but yes, plugged into a 50 amp receptacle, the shore cord will probably melt before the 50 amp breaker trips.
