Talking On to Retirement!

Well after a 34 year career, I walked out of the office for the last time today and into retirement. My DW does the same the end of May. We are looking forward to travelling with our 5ver a lot more, especially without fixed/rushed schedules, and seeing the country from the open road. Exciting times are ahead!!

Hopefully you and the wife have many years of great health. Usually when someone retires they are in the best health they are going to have so hit the road and enjoy America.

Congrats on the retirement! You will find it hard to accept the not going to work but it becomes normal after a while. You'll miss some of the people also but that will become normal also. I found out the only problem I've had is not getting a day off now. I've been retired for 13 years now but it sure feels good!

Congratulations! Hubby retired in 2005 and I in 2008. We winter in Florida in our rig and take various long and short trips the rest of the year. The RV lifestyle is a huge part of our retirement, as it is the best way to travel!

You will love it once you get past the withdrawal symptoms of getting up early then diving into the ratrace. My company finally 'threw' me out after 42 years at age 67. My DW followed a couple years later. Now, I find I don't have enough time to do what I used to while working.

Something from my Irish heritage:

"May the sun shine, all day long,
everything go right, and nothing wrong.
May those you love bring love back to you,
and may all the wishes you wish come true!

Congratulations

Congrats! I'm semi retired. I'll keep working part time until I quit having fun. Then I'll get a real job.

Thanks all! It will definitely take some getting used to though the job jar is overflowing with ways to keep me occupied in between trips. I think we have something every month from April through Oct already planned. My DW and I will be back at the rally in Sept this year (missed last year) so I'm sure we will see some of you then.

Go enjoy your retirement but don’t set down too long. Get up and enjoy yourself.

mjammersc, consider joining us at the Central Plains Regional Rally (CPRR) in July! It will be held in Iowa this year, so it is a little shorter trip for you to join us. Check out the Regional Rally section here on the Forum for information and how to sign up! Hope you can join us!
