thermostat issue

should I be able to control the heater from either thermostat Bedroom and kitchen. l know each one controls different a/c units. thanks for your input

No. Only 1 thermostat will control your furnace. It should be the "main" thermostat(kitchen) that operates the furnace as it is a more central located thermostat.

True, only one will opperate the furnace and/or heat pump. The other will only control the AC in it's zone.

True, our bedroom stat only controls the bedroom A/C, though the display on the bedroom stat says otherwise.

The bedroom t-stat has no heating function as far as I can tell. I would like to control the heat pump from one, and the furnace from another. This way we can set the heat pump at say 72 degrees, and the furnace at 70 degrees. That way we can run on electric, and only burn gas if the heat pump cant keep up. Has anyone tried rewiring the t-stats?
