No Brake lights!!
I have no brake lights on the truck, only the brakelight bar above the back window. I checked the fuse under the hood and checked both bulbs. The trailer brakelights work when hooked up. Any ideas what might be the problem. Don't have any idea how long they haven't worked. A person in a long line of backed up cars informed me they didn't work yesterday. Its a 2007 Chevy 3500.

If the fuses are for sure okay, you could have a bad brake light switch. I cannot tell you where it is located though, sorry

If the third brake light works and the trailer works (with the brake pedal) i would look at the connectors on the wiring harness to the lights.

It has to be somewhere after the union of the tail lights and the light bar and trailer connection. I would be trying to find a wiring diagram.

I agree with Bigmurf, I would start there.

Do the tail lights and license plate lights work?

There could be a problem where the 5th wheel connector is tied to the truck wiring. But it is hard to believe it would affect both sides at once, but it is a place to start.

Thanks for all the response to my problem. I took it to a Chevy dealer, Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington N.C. this morning and they said it was 2 burned out bulbs. I guess I need to clean my glasses because I was sure that the bulbs looked OK and the filaments not burned thru. Cost me $28 dollars and had a complete checkup of liquids, brakes and tires. Excellent service from these people.

Great that it was a easy cheap fix. Sometimes it is hard to see if the bulb is burnt out if it is low on the filament.

Often you can thump the bulb with your finger if it looks good, and if an element is actually burned out you can see it swinging around.
