Good Shocks for 2016 F350

Looking for good shocks to replace our worn out factory Rancho cheap shocks.

2016 F350 King Ranch FX4 Crew Short Box PSD

Looking at Bilstein 5100 or Fox Shocks

Wondering what others might be replacing theirs with

Either one would be a good choice. I put Bilsteins on my 06 350. Big improvement over the Rancho's. I now have a 15, 350 but have not changed out factory shocks yet. I have read that the Fox shocks are equally as good as Bilsteins but the ride is a little softer with the fox brand. To me the 09-16 model year 350's seem to ride a little stiffer than the previous years, so I am still on the fence about which way to go. Both a good choice with out having to spend a lot more $$$

I had Blistien 5100 on my Ram 2500 and it’s a great shock but it does make it ride rougher, I want with Bilstien 4600 this time on my 3500. Love these shocks

According to Bilstien, the only difference between the 4600 and 5100 is that the 5100 is for 0 to 2 inch lift and the 4600 is for stock height. Also the 5100 has a brushed aluminum look and a rubber boot, while the 4600 is painted yellow and has no boot. Either one should give the same ride. I just put 5100's on my F250 with no lift, mainly because I think my air bags might overextend the shocks when running empty with a lot of air in them and I like the idea of the boot. Oh, and the brushed finish just looks cool

The 5100 has a higher gas psi at 300 while the 4600 is 260 psi also the 4600 has a blue rubber boot. At least for Ram they do.

Your right about the boot, I was going from memory. Now that I recall, I believe the 4600 actually has a plastic sleeve vs. the rubber boot. I couldn't find anything pertaining to gas pressure on the Bilstien web site. Not disputing your info, but would like to know where you found it.

I had Bilstein's on the last truck which worked well but I wasn't too happy about the ride harshness. I wandered the 'net, looking for an alternate. I ended up with KYB's which have served me well for about 45.000 miles (plus they aren't that glaring bright yellow and blue). REAL Rancho shocks, not the Ford branded are also well liked.

I was incorrect, both of them are 360 PSI.you can find this info on shock warehouse web site. I buy all my shocks from them.

I am most likely going with the 5100’s bc of the aluminum only bc my Rancho white steel shocks are rusted and turned brown after 2 years and I like the boot for protection of road debris.

I also have a stock 2016 F350 so ride height will be good with 5100’s

I was going with Fox but they are way too expensive for a towing truck, maybe if I wasn’t beating up the suspension I would get them but just too much money and I like the way the Bilsteins are built

I’ve had the 5100s on my 1500 and 2500, great shocks but does ride stiffer because the valving/tuning is different.

My 2007 3500 Chevy with 76,000 miles still has the original shocks on it. I tow a 3000RK with total loaded weight of about 12,500#. Should I be replacing my shocks??

I must ask WHY!? I just priced 4600s for my truck with them and they are about $50.00 higher than Amazon on a set of 4.
