CB Antenna

I have a Wilson magnetic that I put in the center of the F250 Super and it works great, also is so high I trim trees in our neighborhood. Anyone have an F250 short bed with an aluminum tool box that mounted a permanent antenna that they are happy with and doesn't hit the 5er? Where did you mount it? Non grounding if on the box? Where do you run the coax into the truck?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Mike, I mounted mine on the flange of the box just in-board where the metal is single layer. I purchased a cobra all 75WX, duo wip coax, routed out the two air flaps behind rear set, and connected to two heaveyduty base mounts and connected to two Firestik 4' tunable wips. Seems to work pretty good.

I use a Diamond antenna trunk mount K400K-3/8C on the back door. It is not cheap.

As you noticed it is tall but I like that because it warns me if I am going to hit something with the trailer. The whip is still about 8 inches shorter than the top of the trailer so it is not perfect.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

I dont have a Ford, but I did mount the cb antenna to the post hole in the front left corner of the bed. Clears the coach and provides a pretty good range of coverage.

Montana Sky, I looked at going that path but found my turning radius would be limited by that placement and hence went further forward and inboard. Maybe the Chevy post holes are more forward? Down side was I have to be watchful of TV to RV contact on those tight spots as the Antenna's will not contact RV unless the cab gives in...my old Chevy it used to touch antenna before cab like a forewarning.

I bought a bracket that bolts on under the hood and fits through the space between the hood and fender. I went to a mobile radio shop. They have mounting brackets for almost every truck.

noneck,
I know the GM has the most space infront of the rear axle on the shortbed followed by Ford, then Dodge. I wonder if my Superglide is the reason I can clear the antenna ??

I permanent mounted a Wilson 1000 in the middle of my TV roof. Came in through the ceiling light. Gives me a good warning prior to my 5er getting there. The antenna can be unscrewed from the mount and I have a cap to put on it if I should want to go without it, or like I was in Salem with a parking garage only 2" taller than my TV.

I made a bracket that fits between the hood and the left fender. Works great. Doesn't block vision and balances out the radio's antenna on the right.
