Ozz, we got the 46" Sharp Aquos with the blue ray. Best Buy gave us the best deal and 24 months 0% interest. Blue ray was free with purchase, couldn't beat that around here, we looked!

Just as a LCD does not have liquid in it but rather "Liquid Crystal" that can have the properties of either a liquid or crystal under certain conditions/ The Plasma Tv really has no plasma that can freeze......"A plasma display panel (PDP) is a type of flat panel display now commonly used for large TV displays (typically above 37-inch or 940 mm). Many tiny cells located between two panels of glass hold an inert mixture of "noble gases." The gas in the cells is "electrically" turned into a plasma which then excites phosphors to emit light. Plasma displays are commonly confused with LCDs, another lightweight flatscreen display but with very different technology" ....The plasma display can burn a image but that is unlikely in a TV application since the images are not stationary. Extreme cold or heat affects the operation of most any electronic device. My choice for the RV would be the LCD display and I would operate it within the rated spec's.

Ozz, if you have DTV, on the remote or on the HD receiver, there is a format button that will change the display. Kerry

Will, yes it's there, you wouldn't recognize the area there. I went over to change out 6 big hail damaged condenser coils on 15 ton rooftop units for another A/C company, I didn't recognize it. The NASCAR track is there as well as a very large shopping center: (Legions-mis-spelled,don't know how they spell it) they have every name you can think of plus some new ones,Hooters is even there. They are still building, they had a Casino coming, but it canceled because of the crummy economy.
Tim, we always pass on service contracts, but with this set, I bought one. I got a 4 year. Sony does not cover everything, and there would be a $100.00 service charge to come to the house, also, you would have to package it and ship it back to a repair site if that kind of repair would be needed. They even cover the $80.00 remote, (as you already know, but some may not) I think in some instances it is a good idea.
In the greater Kansas City area we have plenty of good repair companies, not like poor Carolyn way up north, with few to chose from.
Rondo, you should have seen the display models they have, there must have been over 500 sets on display, we bought our Montana reclining love-seat there, as well as our recliners in our 'stick house', old Warren has a good investment there. Yep, it's warmed from 6 yesterday to 18 this morning, but it's snowing, streets are covered and it's kind of pretty. Later today, I have to go and fix a furnace in a neighbor's garage.
Jack, I read where the Plasma may burn an image in, and the life of the set is half as long, (under certain conditions) when the broadcasters leave their logo on the screen all the time, that would be an issue. I noticed the cable provider sets a timer, the picture blacks out after awhile and a moving notice comes on; "Press any key to resume" this is probably for the Plasma sets.
Delaine and Lindy, we have a Sony now, it has been a very nice trouble-free set, so we went with what we knew. I will move the old Sony to the bedroom. I have a cable box in there, it's a HDTV box, but without a recorder in it.
Of course, I will now have to buy a LCD for the Montana, when the time comes it will also be a Sony.

Ozz, a couple of months ago I bought a 32" Bravia 780 for my garage, just for the heck of it I measured to see if it was possible to change out the Oliva 32" in the Monty for the Bravia.
It measured out about 1 1/2" to long on each side,But with your talents I am sure you could make it work.

Thanks Wayne, that was one of the sites I studied before I went to the store.
Kerry, I did that, but my Tv was not a true HDTV, I went to that site, a good one, here is the review on the Sony KDL Bravia 46XBR4, mine is the KDL52XBR6, but should be close to the same Tv in a 52"

Jack, thanks for the info, I want to go as big as I can on the Monte Tv.
Edit to make the links small..

Ozz: I think you will find the Sony XBR has an unusual picture adjustment feature. In addition to the various stretch and zoom options, it has one where the 4:3 picture is fitted to the 16:9 frame by clipping the top and bottom (no stretch). Amazingly, you don't really lose much of value or detail from the shot and it looks really good.

Thanks, Carl we are fiddling with the adjustments now.
Update on availability, I just bought ours at Circuit City in St. Joe Missouri, we have it sitting in our living room now.
Nebraska Furniture mart pushed our delivery date back to Dec. 31. I told them no sale, and went to Circuit City. Got it for the same price.

He had better get better delivery service from Sony. I am positive many people that ordered will be upset they can't get their Sony products until after Christmas.
We got the last one from the Best Buy stores in a 300 mile area.

OZZ- I used to work at NFM up here in Omaha(many moons ago while Mrs. B was still alive)and still keep in contact with the Blumkins so have a little in there but the shipping deal could be a problem! The Sony unit must be pretty good and in high demand if NFM is having problems with delivery. They usually get what they want because of their size and power to sell! Let us know how this new unit works out!

Rondo, I think with the sale pricing and economy, all dealers must be slammed with Christmas.
Wayne, I already have the bad boy in my living room, he has good pricing, but shipping would be a factor.
